Panic seized him. He twisted to evade, but his injured leg failed him mid-motion. With a sharp smack, the wheelchair overturned, and Ulric crashed to the stone floor in humiliating disarray.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He looked up in terror-\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Straight into Aysel\u2019s eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They were bright, blazing, feral-like a small wolf guarding her kill, fur bristled, flames burning in her gaze.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat are you doing?!\u201d Ulric shouted, both shocked and furious.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Aysel sneered, flicking the whip loosely as its tail hissed against the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIsn\u2019t it obvious? I\u2019m whipping you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m his father!\u201d Ulric roared. In his entire life, he had never seen a daughter-in-law who dared raise a weapon against an elder-let alone in front of the pack Alpha.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Aysel\u2019s voice cut like a blade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly those who raise and protect are elders worthy of respect. What are you? You think you can bare your fatherhood before Magnus?\u201d Her eyes burned. \u201cDo you think he\u2019s still that five- or six-year-old cub- bullied, cornered, with no one to bare their fangs for him?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ulric\u2019s breath hitched.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMagnus! Her grip tightened, hatred flaring as she struck again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow could you treat him like this?!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ulric had never once been kind to Magnus-yet he expected a few hollow words of regret to earn back the title of father.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Why?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What right did he have?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The moment Aysel mentioned Raya, Ulric froze.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The strength drained from his body. His eyes went distant, unfocused, as if his soul had slipped loose. He stopped resisting altogether, collapsing into stillness.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was Magnus who moved first.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He caught Aysel before she could strike again-not for Ulric\u2019s sake, but because letting such filth wound her heart was not worth it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Magnus pulled her into his arms, lowering his head to kiss the corners of her reddened eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEasy, baby,\u201d he murmured softly. \u201cWe\u2019re not angry anymore. He can\u2019t hurt me now. They strode forward, seized Ulric and his overturned wheelchair, and without ceremony hurled both straight out of the villa gates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The servant wished he\u2019d gone blind that morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hands shaking, he helped Ulric into the car and asked cautiously,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaster\u2026 should we go to the healer\u2019s hall?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ulric ignored the question. Instead, he asked something utterly unrelated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHave you ever seen Magnus when he was young?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The servant froze, scratching his head.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAh\u2026 I came late. I didn\u2019t.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By the time he entered the Sanchez household, Magnus had already grown into a feared Alpha. He knew only that father and son were enemies-nothing more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ulric closed his eyes and turned his head away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo healer.
