Sienna’s bringing me food.”

“What? Have you two made up?” Hayden’s jaw dropped in shock.

Clayton leaned back in his chair and said in a somewhat smug tone, “Yeah. A single man like you should just go buy something for yourself to satisfy your lonely stomach.”

Hayden clicked his tongue a couple of times and eyed Clayton curiously. “How’d you manage to get her to come home? Be honest with me. Was it flowers? Chocolates? Did you do the whole ‘get down on your knees and beg’ routine?”

Clayton snorted. “I did none of that. I don’t have time to indulge her tantrums.”

Just then, Sienna sent a message. “Food’s here.”

Clayton pressed the intercom and instructed Rowan, “The food’s downstairs. Bring the person up.”

Hayden exclaimed, “Damn! As expected of Mr. Hale. I’m going to study this confident maneuver frame by frame.”

Clayton looked up and shot him a complacent look. “What, are you jealous?”

“Yeah. Let me try some of Mrs. Hale’s loving home-cooked lunch,” Hayden responded with a wicked grin.

Clayton became conceited and continued boasting, “This isn’t food for single men. You should go back to dreaming. After all, you can have anything in your dreams.”

“Come on. We’re friends. Don’t be so stingy,” Hayden said.

He was genuinely curious about what Sienna would send over. She didn’t seem like someone who would compromise so easily.

Downstairs, Rowan froze the moment he saw the person. That bright and glaring outfit screamed deliveryman uniform. In his hand was an insulated bag.

“Is… Is this Mr. Hale’s delivery?” Rowan asked again to be sure.

The delivery guy nodded seriously. “Yes. Ms. Winger specifically told me I had to personally hand it to Mr. Hale.”

Rowan was stunned. He recalled that Clayton had emphasized that he should bring the person up to his office but hadn’t said who. Without overthinking it, Rowan brought him upstairs.

He knocked on the door and reported, “Mr. Hale, the person has arrived.”

“Come in,” Clayton said coolly from inside.

The delivery guy pushed open the door and called out in a loud, hearty voice, “Is there a Mr. Hale who doesn’t eat cilantro? Your food delivery is here!”

The air went dead silent as the awkwardness in the room intensified.

Hayden’s coffee cup crashed onto the desk with a loud clang. He was laughing so hard that his shoulders shook as he tried to hold it in.

“I-Is this your home-cooked lunch made with love, Mr. Hale?” He wiped tears of laughter from the corner of his eyes. “You can’t imagine how envious I am as a single man. It’s a no-cilantro custom order at that. Seriously, no one’s ever ordered

Chapter 38

272

takeout for me in my entire life. You are blessed, Mr. Hale.”

Clayton’s face darkened like stormy clouds rolling in from the horizon. His fingers clenched tightly around his pen, which creaked ominously.

Seeing his expression, the delivery guy hurried over and carefully placed the numerous bones of food on the desk. “Enjoy your cilantro-free meal, Mr. Hale.”

Then, he slipped away as fast as lightning

Hayden eagerly opened the containers and saw that they all contained dishes known to be exceptionally nourishing to the body. There were even a dozen raw oysters.

It was a lavish and intensely “invigorating” spread

But the cherry on top was the name of the full-course meal printed on the delivery receipt. It read, “Ten Years Younger Alpha Male Exclusive Meal ”

Hayden whistled exaggeratedly and teased, “These are all dishes known to boost abe performance. Does Stemme think you’re weak or something? No offense, but maybe you really should stop sitting in the office all day and work out more.” “Shut.
