All she had was a beautiful face, and she had always lived her life walking on thin ice.

She desperately wanted to break free from being labeled as someone who came from a poor family. But in high society, shaking off that label was especially hard.

Before long, all the dishes were served.

Clayton stared at the two bottles of red wine and frowned. “Why are you drinking again? Who got so drunk that they blacked out and assaulted someone in the street? Are you planning on a second offense now?”

“Mind your own business,” Sienna hissed.

She picked up her fork and knife to start cutting into her steak. The metal screeched noisily against the porcelain plate.

Clayton smirked and remarked, “Do you have some kind of feud with this cow? Did it offend you in a past life or something?”

Sienna rolled her eyes and cut even harder, imagining that she wasn’t slicing the beef but him.

Suddenly, the plate slipped. A small piece of steak drenched in sauce shot out like an arrow released from a bowstring.

“Ah!” Melody screamed.

Black pepper sauce slid down her pale cheek, and there were dark spots splattered across her white dress. She scrambled to wipe it off, but the more she wiped, the worse it got. Her face looked like a spilled paint palette.

Michelle burst into laughter, honking like a goose. “Haha! You look like an abstract painting! This is hands-down the best makeup look of the year!”

Melody’s body trembled slightly.

Her voice carried a deliberately suppressed sob as she said, “This is too much, Sienna! If you have a problem with me, you can just say it outright. There’s no need to humiliate me over and over. We used to be good friends, didn’t we?”

“It was purely an accident. I think Newton’s laws of physics should take the blame for this,” Sienna retorted swiftly.

She set down her knife and fork gracefully and smiled at Melody. “Since we were good friends, I’m sure the beautiful and generous Ms. Foster will forgive my unintentional mistake, right?”

“With acting this bad, you might as well stop,” Clayton said coldly. He pulled out some napkins and handed them to Melody.

Then, he shot Sienna a sharp glare and ordered, “Apologize.”

Sienna’s temper flared instantly. “Why should I apologize? Why don’t you apologize? You forced your way into someone else’s table in the first place. Apologize to me first, then I’ll consider apologizing to her!”

Clayton’s voice dropped, and each word he spoke was icy. “Enough, Sienna. Is it really that fun to mess with others?”

“If that’s how you want to see it, there’s nothing I can do.” Sienna shrugged, looking like she was daring him to do his worst.

If he dared to lay a hand on her, she would sue him for domestic violence and file for divorce on the spot.

They locked eyes, and neither was willing to back down. The atmosphere tensed and grew frigid.

Melody stepped in at just the right moment to smooth things over.

She timidly tugged on Clayton’s sleeve and spoke in a soft and soothing voice. “Clay, forget it. Sienna probably didn’t mean it. Please don’t fight because of me. I’d feel terrible. I’ll just go clean up in the restroom.”

With that, she headed toward the restroom with Michelle following closely behind.

X CLOSE

Chapter 32

2/2

Only Sienna and Clayton were left at the table.

Clayton stared at her with a complicated expression. “Can’t you just get along with her? Weren’t you two so close that you were like sisters in the past? That kind of bond doesn’t just vanish overnight. Now, you’re acting like sworn enemies.”

Sienna almost laughed out loud. Was Clayton expecting them both to share the same man as close friends? No wonder he insisted on shoving Melody right in her face. What a clever plan he had.

Sienna’s gaze turned cold and became devoid of emotion. “I’m a fickle person. If something annoys me, I’ll have it replaced, especially you.”

Clayton shot back, “And Michelle? If you find her annoying one day, will you turn on her the same as you did to Melody?”

Before Sienna could answer, a sudden commotion came from the restroom.

They both looked up at the same time. A crowd had gathered near the door. Faintly, they could hear the voices of Michelle and Melody drifting toward them.

She got the divorce and bolted 32 Chapter 32 1/2 Chapter 32 Melody’s family background had always been her sore […]

[27

post-20106","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-she-got-the-divorce-and-bolted-novel
["GET
