Melody let out a startled cry, while Clayton turned toward the direction of the sound.

Sienna was standing unsteadily not far away, clutching her other shoe. Her cheeks were flushed red from the alcohol. Michelle reacted instantly, dragging Sienna behind a corner and clamping a hand over her mouth.

Sienna still struggled, mumbling indignantly, “I haven’t even thrown the other shoe yet!”

“How did you get this rebellious when you’re drunk? And why are you suddenly strong as an ox?” Michelle was on the verge of tears. This woman was practically her personal curse.

Meanwhile, Clayton got out of the car and picked up the high heel, studying it thoughtfully. It looked familiar. There was a dent in the hood of his car, but he said nothing. He casually tossed the shoe into the back seat and restarted the engine.

Melody glanced back, puzzled. “Who threw it? Did you see? Should we check the surveillance cameras?”

Clayton tightened his grip on the steering wheel, his expression dark and unreadable. “No need. Just some drunkard.”

Melody looked at his profile for a long moment before speaking softly. “Clay, you’ve changed a lot.”

Without looking at her, Clayton replied, “Everyone changes.”

At 11:00 pm, Clayton walked into Baymont Residences carrying a single high heel.

Edna was stunned when she saw it. “Isn’t that Mrs. Hale’s shoe? How come…”

“Where is she?” Clayton interrupted.

Edna shook her head. “She hasn’t come back yet.”

Hah! First, she boldly asked for a divorce. Now, she didn’t even come home at all.

Clayton pulled out his phone and called Sienna.

Seeing the caller ID, Michelle hesitated over whether to pick up.

It had taken a lot of effort to drag Sienna back to her apartment. She had caused a scene the entire way, turning into a totally different person once alcohol was involved. She’d only fallen asleep after taking a shower.

After a brief hesitation, Michelle still answered the phone. Besides, Clayton clearly wasn’t planning to give up, calling nonstop.

As soon as the call connected, Clayton snapped, “Sienna, what’s gotten into you? You’re not even going to come home?”

On the other end, Michelle’s ears rang. Already exhausted, she snapped back, “Mr. Hale, lower your voice! You’re going to turn me deaf. Enna just fell asleep. Whatever you have to say can wait till tomorrow.”

“Address,” Clayton said flatly.

“She’s staying at my place tonight. No wonder Enna wanted to divorce this man Even she couldn’t tolerate this scumbag

Under Clayton’s pressure, Michelle reluctantly gave him the address.

20 minutes later, Clayton’s car stopped downstairs. He entered Michelle’s apartment with a cold expression and headed straight for the bedroom. Sienna was sleeping soundly on the bed, her brows faintly furrowed.

Michelle stood to the side with her arms crossed, reminding him, “She drank too much. Don’t disturb her.”

Clayton ignored her. He bent down and scooped Sienna up effortlessly. She smelled faintly of body wash, her cheeks rosy. She didn’t stir from her sleep at all.

At the entrance, Clayton paused and turned back toward Michelle. “Shoes?”

Michelle played dumb. “What?”

“Where are her shoes?” His gaze swept over the shoe rack. “She didn’t come out barefoot.”

Defeated, Michelle sighed and handed over the “weapon of the crime”. Watching Clayton carry Sienna into the elevator, she silently prayed for her best friend.

The next afternoon, Sienna woke with a splitting headache, her mind completely blank.

Who was she? Where was she? How did she get here?

“Mrs. Hale, you’re finally awake. Have some soup to settle your stomach,” Edna said gently, bringing over a bowl of chicken

soup.

Sienna accepted it in a daze and drank it all in one go. “How did I get back?”

“You slithered back.” A lazy, mocking voice came from the doorway.

Clayton leaned against the doorframe, holding her high heel. It looked like a full-scale interrogation.

Edna wisely took the bowl from Sienna and vanished.

Sienna shot Clayton a glare. “I’m not a snake.”

With a thud, the shoe landed on the carpet. Clayton folded his arms and sneered. “You’re missing a shoe. If you didn’t crawl back, did you hop back on one foot?”

“What shoe?” Sienna looked completely lost.

Clayton stepped closer, looking down at her. “Last night, you took off your heel and threw it at my car. You were aiming for my head, weren’t you? Trying to murder your husband?”

Sienna denied immediately, waving her hands. “Impossible. No way. Don’t slander me.”

As if he’d expected it, Clayton pulled out his phone, opened the surveillance footage, and shoved the screen in front of her.” There’s solid proof. Are you still going to deny it?”

In the video, a completely drunk Sienna balanced on one leg, executed a flawless throw, and sent her shoe flying straight toward its target.

Sienna was speechless. She turned her head away awkwardly, still stubborn. “I probably drank too much and lost my balance. Then, at a very unfortunate angle, my shoe flew off on its own. It was an accident.”

Clayton leaned in and forcibly turned her face toward him. “Even if it’s an accident, you still need to pay for the damages. It’ll cost two million dollars. How will you pay?”

“Two million dollars? That’s daylight robbery. You’re exploiting the situation, you shameless pig!” Sienna slapped his hand

away.

Clayton raised an eyebrow. “It’s a limited edition. Even a small dent means replacing the entire panel. Labor and materials alone cost two million dollars. I’m already giving you a discount.”

Chapter 7

3/3

“Isn’t it a shared marital asset?” Why should I pay?” Sienna rebutted quickly.

Clayton smiled faintly. “We’re getting divorced. Are you still Mrs. Hale?”

Sienna choked up, but quickly recovered. “You haven’t signed the divorce papers yet. Once you do, come find me with the repair bill.”

Clayton hadn’t expected her to be this serious. He changed the subject abruptly. “Grandpa wants us back at the Hale residence for dinner. If you want to bring up the divorce, do it yourself.”

He turned to leave. “Change your clothes quickly. I’ll wait at the door.”

Sienna froze. The one person she feared bringing up the divorce to was Rupert.

Three years ago, Rupert had been the one who stood up for her without hesitation, forcing Clayton to marry her. He was the only one who would pat her head and say, “Enna has suffered.”

But now, she was breaking her promise.

After all, shoes that didn’t fit would only hurt more with time, and no one should be spending a lifetime forcing themselves to endure the pain.

She got the divorce and bolted 7 Chapter 7 1/3 Chapter 7 The high heel slammed into the hood […]

[27

post-20081","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-she-got-the-divorce-and-bolted-novel
["GET
