She protested, \u201cSteph, are you looking down on my gallery?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He snorted. \u201cIt\u2019s like playing house. How much profit can it really make? Still, it\u2019s something you like, and it\u2019s definitely better than sitting around doing nothing. Starting a business for fun isn\u2019t bad.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie shot back, \u201cAs for you, you always aim high but never deliver. In all these years, what have you actually pulled off?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Shrugging, he said, \u201cCan you blame me?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie sighed. Maybe doing business really did take talent, and Stephen just didn\u2019t have it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Her phone suddenly rang, and she glanced at the screen to see that it was Johnson. She answered, \u201cHello, Johnson.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Johnson asked, \u201cNatalie, are you free right now?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She replied, \u201cI\u2019m at home. What\u2019s up?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cMr. Wagner\u2019s flight lands in Caspia City at 3:00 pm. I\u2019ll come pick you up, and we\u2019ll head to the airport together.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie responded immediately, \u201cOkay!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
After ending the call, she hurried upstairs. She needed to tidy up and put on some light makeup. First impressions mattered, after all. She couldn\u2019t look sloppy or careless.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stephen called out, \u201cWhat\u2019s all the rush? Are you going on a date with Johnson? Why are you so excited?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie replied, \u201cIt\u2019s for business.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cTake it easy. Put some cream on your knees first. The medicine\u2019s in the bottom drawer of the living room cabinet,\u201d Stephen said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When she didn\u2019t respond, he shouted, \u201cDid you get that?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cGot it, Steph!\u201d Natalie said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

By the time she came back downstairs, Johnson was already seated in the living room, chatting with Stephen.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stephen said, \u201cYou\u2019re putting in a lot of effort for my sister\u2019s gallery. Not bad.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Johnson smiled. \u201cIt\u2019s nothing. I\u2019m just doing her some small favors.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stephen waved it off. \u201cDon\u2019t be so modest. Honestly, I\u2019ve always thought you were a true gentleman. You give people that warm, easygoing feeling. You\u2019re not like Jeffrey at all, who acts so high and mighty. Even though he\u2019s rich and capable, he\u2019s never helped out Nat or the Bennett family, so what\u2019s the point?\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd yet, Nat just had to like him. What a cursed relationship. Luckily, that curse is about to end soon. John, I\u2019m very optimistic about you. Work harder and I\u2019ll put in a good word for you in front of Nat. After all, you two were schoolmates and even worked together in the student council\u2026\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
As Natalie walked closer and heard the latter half of Stephen\u2019s words, she immediately understood what was going on. She shot Stephen a glare. \u201cSteph, you\u2019re spouting nonsense again.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stephen raised his hands. \u201cHow is that nonsense? Don\u2019t slander me. I\u2019m just talking.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Johnson maintained his gentle smile. \u201cI was just chatting casually with Mr. Bennett.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hearing that, Stephen corrected him, \u201cMr. Bennett? No, just call me Steph, like how Nat does. You\u2019re going to have to change how you address me sooner or later anyway. Might as well get used to it now.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie reached over and pinched Stephen\u2019s arm. Did he have a problem keeping quiet?\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stephen pulled away from her. \u201cHey, that hurts!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She smiled sweetly, \u201cJohnson, let\u2019s go. We should get to the airport early to pick up Mr. Wagner.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Johnson nodded. \u201cAlright.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stephen called out behind them, \u201cWhy are you still calling him Johnson? That sounds so distant. Call him John or something; a nickname\u2019s much more intimate. I\u2019m sure he\u2019d love that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
