Natalie picked up the remaining half glass of sugar water and drank it in one go. Then, she stood up from the couch. \u201cIt\u2019s settled. You release Stephen first. Let him go home.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Jeffrey replied, \u201cFine, but what if you fail to persuade my grandma?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She smiled. \u201cAt the end of the day, you just want to marry Abigail, right? Once the divorce papers are finalized, I\u2019ll make sure she successfully enters the Foster family.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
After a moment\u2019s thought, she added, \u201cThough, you shouldn\u2019t make things too lavish, given it\u2019ll be your second marriage and all.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
As soon as the words left her mouth, she felt like she had overstepped. She pursed her lips slightly and shrugged. Then, she turned and headed for the door.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He still didn\u2019t speak, merely looking at her with an unfathomable gaze. He couldn\u2019t stand how composed Natalie was. She had been the one who loved him so desperately, throwing herself into the flames like a moth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

she was the one who divorced him so cleanly, walking away as if she had never loved him at all. It felt like he was nothing but a stranger.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She immediately knew that she was right.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie said firmly, \u201cThat\u2019s right. I don\u2019t love you anymore. My life used to revolve around you, and I treated you as the center of my universe. But that version of me no longer exists.\u00a0<\/p>\n
