His voice was full of concern. \u201cWhat\u2019s going on? Why is Natalie kneeling at the front gate like this? I saw it from afar and thought a staff member had made a huge mistake and was being punished here. I never expected it to be\u2026\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natelie desperately wanted to pull herself free and stand up, but she truly had no strength left. It was already impressive enough that she was managing to stay conscious.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chandler froze for a moment, then let out an awkward laugh. \u201cJeff, what kind of question is\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeffrey cut him off sharply, \u201cDo I need to explain my family matters to you?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hearing that, Chandler looked at Natalie with a complicated expression before turning to Abigail.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Abigail stiffened, but she quickly composed herself. However, she still subconsciously stepped back, trying to put some distance between herself and Chandler.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chandler said, \u201cMs. Wright, you\u2019re here as well. What a coincidence. We meet again.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chandler answered, \u201cLast time, she went to the conference to look for you. I ran into her when I was coming out. Jeff, is this because Ms. Wright and Natalie had a falling out and you\u2019ve chosen to take Ms. Wright\u2019s side?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Abigail responded immediately, \u201cThere\u2019s no conflict between Natalie and me. Even if there\u00a0<\/p>\n
were, I would never be so cruel as to make her kneel here and suffer humiliation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Chandler asked, \u201cSo, you\u2019re saying Jeff is being very cruel?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2026\u201d Abigail had no response to that.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Listening to their exchange, Natalie slowly recovered a bit and forced her eyes open. Jeffrey\u2019s faint, familiar scent surrounded her. Leaning against him felt much more reassuring than being in Chandler\u2019s arms. Lately, Chandler\u2019s concern for her felt a bit excessive.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie said weakly, \u201cI did it willingly, Chandler. It has nothing to do with them.\u2018\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, Chandler pressed, \u201cYou should be telling the truth at a time like this, Natalie. What exactly happened?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Her lashes trembled as she replied, \u201cStephen smashed Felix\u2019s head with a bottle. He\u2019s still being held at the police station. If the matter isn\u2019t settled today, it\u2019ll go to court, and he could end up in prison.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Chandler understood immediately. He looked at Jeffrey. \u201cJeff, this isn\u2019t appropriate. The Bennetts are our in\u2013laws. How can the Wright family compare? Yet, you\u2019re helping Felix instead of Stephen. If word gets out, we\u2019ll be a laughingstock.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Jeffrey raised an eyebrow. \u201cAre you going to try and interfere?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Chandler waved his hands in front of him. \u201cNo, no, I\u2019m just analyzing it for you. If Stephen really ends up in prison over this, do you think Mrs. Bennett Sr. will stay silent? He\u2019s her only grandson.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd when Mrs. Bennett Sr. goes to Grandma about it, do you think Grandma will ignore it?
