Why is Natalie kneeling at the front gate like this? I saw it from afar and thought a staff member had made a huge mistake and was being punished here. I never expected it to be…”

Natelie desperately wanted to pull herself free and stand up, but she truly had no strength left. It was already impressive enough that she was managing to stay conscious.

Chandler looked up at Jeffrey. “Jeff, even if you don’t like Natalie, you don’t have to bully her

like this.”

Jeffrey narrowed his eyes. “What? Are you planning on protecting her?”

Chandler said, “We’re all family. Is this really necessary?”

He sighed before continuing, “Natalie, come on. Get up.

Natalie was limp and devoid of strength. She was so weak that she couldn’t even open her eyes. She could only lean against Chandler.

Jeffrey’s expression darkened. Who was she trying to fool with this fragile act?

Just as Chandler was about to wrap an arm around her waist and lift her up, Jeffrey stepped forward and yanked Natalie into his arms. Her nose slammed into his chest again, making her

even dizzier.

She heard Jeffrey say coldly, “You seem awfully concerned about her.”

Chandler replied, “Jeff, she’s family.”

Jeffrey retorted, “So, you like your cousin–in–law?”

Chandler froze for a moment, then let out an awkward laugh. “Jeff, what kind of question is

that? Of course not.”

In an icy voice, Jeffrey said, “You’ve crossed a line, Chandler.”

Chandler protested, “Jeff, you still haven’t told me why Natalie was kneeling here-”

Jeffrey cut him off sharply, “Do I need to explain my family matters to you?”

Hearing that, Chandler looked at Natalie with a complicated expression before turning to Abigail.

Abigail stiffened, but she quickly composed herself. However, she still subconsciously stepped back, trying to put some distance between herself and Chandler.

Chapter 52

2/2

Chandler said, “Ms. Wright, you’re here as well. What a coincidence. We meet again.”

“Again?” Jeffrey asked.

Chandler answered, “Last time, she went to the conference to look for you. I ran into her when I was coming out. Jeff, is this because Ms. Wright and Natalie had a falling out and you’ve chosen to take Ms. Wright’s side?”

Abigail responded immediately, “There’s no conflict between Natalie and me. Even if there

were, I would never be so cruel as to make her kneel here and suffer humiliation.”

Chandler asked, “So, you’re saying Jeff is being very cruel?”

“I…” Abigail had no response to that.

Listening to their exchange, Natalie slowly recovered a bit and forced her eyes open. Jeffrey’s faint, familiar scent surrounded her. Leaning against him felt much more reassuring than being in Chandler’s arms. Lately, Chandler’s concern for her felt a bit excessive.

Natalie said weakly, “I did it willingly, Chandler. It has nothing to do with them.‘

However, Chandler pressed, “You should be telling the truth at a time like this, Natalie. What exactly happened?”

Her lashes trembled as she replied, “Stephen smashed Felix’s head with a bottle. He’s still being held at the police station. If the matter isn’t settled today, it’ll go to court, and he could end up in prison.”

Chandler understood immediately. He looked at Jeffrey. “Jeff, this isn’t appropriate. The Bennetts are our in–laws. How can the Wright family compare? Yet, you’re helping Felix instead of Stephen. If word gets out, we’ll be a laughingstock.”

Jeffrey raised an eyebrow. “Are you going to try and interfere?”

Chandler waved his hands in front of him. “No, no, I’m just analyzing it for you. If Stephen really ends up in prison over this, do you think Mrs. Bennett Sr. will stay silent? He’s her only grandson.

“And when Mrs. Bennett Sr. goes to Grandma about it, do you think Grandma will ignore it? If she finds out you’re favoring the Wright family, she’ll probably be so furious that she’ll fall ill. She’s made it very clear more than once that she doesn’t like Abigail.”

He paused, then added, “Jeff, let’s settle this privately. Natalie has already knelt down and admitted fault. It’s better to resolve it quietly. Why be so relentless?”

Natalie didn’t understand why Chandler was helping her. She was confused, but she still looked at Chandler gratefully.

Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 52 Chapter 52 Chandler crouched down and supported Natalie. His voice was full of […]

[9

post-20026","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-divorced-upgraded-and-married-rich
["GET
