I didn\u2019t know you liked younger men, Mrs. Brennan.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He suddenly smiled. \u201cWhat a coincidence. I\u2019m three months younger than Noah, and I work out regularly. My tennis skills barely qualify me for the amateur top tier. Oh, and I really dote on my other half.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany was rendered speechless.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, Mrs. Brennan, you can rest assured that marrying me was absolutely the right choice.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany forced a wry smile.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Silas liked men. My family is easy to get along with. They\u2019ll like you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany thought of the kind\u2013looking Jeremy and realized that Silas was probably right.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her own family members were likely the only people who were difficult to handle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She didn\u2019t dwell on it for much longer and followed Silas, winding through the halls to the main building. The Brennan residence was much larger than she\u2019d imagined.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Soon, a little kid opened the door for them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Six\u2013year\u2013old Evan Brennan scratched his chubby cheek and asked curiously, \u201cUncle Silas, who\u2019s this pretty lady?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The corner of Silas\u2018 mouth twitched, and he shot a biting remark, \u201cEvan, can you not touch me with those greasy hands of yours? Don\u2019t say that!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silas pulled a tissue from the box on the console table and wiped his hands. \u201cEvan, look in the mirror, then tell me you\u2019re not dirty.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Evan snorted and turned to run.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany laughed helplessly at the uncle and nephew duo, then walked over to Jeremy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJeremy, we\u2019re back.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy smiled cheerfully. \u201cIt\u2019s so good to see you! Beth, I specifically told Silas to bring you home for dinner today. I heard you fainted last time. You have no idea how worried I was! Are you feeling any better?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany didn\u2019t expect Silas to have told Jeremy about it. She nodded. \u201cI\u2019m fine now. Everything\u2019s back on track.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy finally relaxed. \u201cDon\u2019t worry. If Silas ever bullies you, just tell me.
