The following day, Antonio summoned Bethany to his office and asked, \u201cBeth, I heard you had a run\u2013in with William yesterday.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bethany smiled gently. \u201cDid he tattle, Uncle Antonio?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Antonio didn\u2019t expect her to be so blunt, and it threw him off for a moment. \u201cOh, no. I heard it from someone else. Her words gave Antonio a quiet satisfaction. \u201cMm, Beth. I can tell you really care.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
As for William, that was the end of it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
William assumed that by spreading those rumors, he would at least cause Bethany some trouble.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, when he saw her return to the office completely unfazed and start posting this month\u2019s task assignments in the group chat, he began to panic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She pulled the car door open and sat next to Holly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Holly suddenly felt like she had made things worse. She asked, \u201cHey, Uncle Noah, why so harsh? Didn\u2019t you forbid Beth from joining another company? Isn\u2019t that too much?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
From the front seat, Noah shot a cold glance over his shoulder. \u201cHolly, that\u2019s just work.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no need to ask him. I\u2019ve already found a job.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bethany\u2019s words hit Noah hard. He narrowed his eyes, as if he were trying to figure out whether she was telling the truth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
