He picked up his phone lazily, a faint smile curling at his lips. He texted back, \u201cYeah.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany deliberated before sending two words. \u201cThank you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He had helped her out of a tight spot. So, it was only right for her to thank him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, as soon as she climbed into the car and was about to head home, she received a location pin from him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany: \u201c?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silas: \u201cI drank a little too much. Come pick me up.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany: \u201cWhere\u2019s your driver?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silas: \u201cYou just thanked me, and now you\u2019re unwilling to pick me up?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany immediately replied. \u201cI\u2019ll be right there.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1\/2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oscar Mitchell watched as Silas barely touched his drink. Silas merely lounged on the couch, playing with his phone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oscar was a little annoyed. \u201cI called you out to drink, not to play on your phone, Silas.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silas clicked his tongue. \u201cEnjoy yourselves without me. I\u2019m not drinking tonight.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He paused before breaking into a smile. \u201cAfter all, my wife is coming to pick me up soon. What can I say? I\u2019m on a tight leash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>11\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As soon as his words fell, everyone exchanged bewildered looks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHold on\u2026 You\u2019re married, Mr. Brennan?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That was news. Wasn\u2019t Silas into men? Had he switched preferences?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oscar narrowed his eyes, studying him. \u201cWhy don\u2019t I know about this?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silas\u2018 lips curled. \u201cI told you not to fall for me, Oscar. Nothing good will come out of it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSilas Brennan!\u201d Oscar walked up to him, slung his arm over Silas\u2018 shoulder, and raised his hand as if he wanted to strangle Silas. Silas, however, seized his wrist and restrained him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No one batted an eye. After all, they were used to the two roughhousing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Just then, the private room door was pushed open, and the first thing that came into Bethany\u2019s view was Silas with his arm around another man. She studied the unfamiliar face curiously. Oscar was just as good\u2013looking as Silas. So, this was her husband\u2019s boyfriend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany cleared her throat. \u201cShould I wait outside for you?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silas let go of Oscar, stood up, and straightened his clothes. \u201cNo. I\u2019ll head back with you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He shot Oscar a mildly disgusted look \u201cDon\u2019t get handsy with me next time, Oscar. People might get the wrong idea.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oscar was dumbfounded. \u201cThe hell did you just\u2014\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Without sparing him another glance, Silas ushered Bethany out of the private room, leaving Oscar\u2019s unfinished words hanging in the air.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>X CLOSE\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 19\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bethany pursed her lips as she followed him out. \u201c\u2026Was that really a good idea?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silas arched his brow, puzzled. \u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWon\u2019t your\u2026 boyfriend be upset?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He narrowed his eyes. \u201cYou think he\u2019s my boyfriend?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah.\u201d Bethany scratched her head. \u201cAren\u2019t you into men?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silas was stumped. He felt as though he had just shot himself in the foot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am. He\u2019s not my type, though.
