My return upset Selene, didn’t it? But I really never meant to hurt her,” she whined.

Normally, when Stella said things like this, the Sinclair brothers were guaranteed to defend her. But now, they were acting as though they hadn’t heard her at all.

When she had finished speaking, they blandly replied, “Go upstairs first, Stella. We’re a little tired.”

Once out of their sight, Stella’s gaze turned malicious. She questioned why her brothers were still so restless when Selene was already dead.

Back in the living room, the Sinclair brothers sat on the couch. Each of them was lost in their own thoughts.

“It’s my fault this happened to Selene. If it weren’t for me, she would still be alive,” Alaric blurted.

Then, he buried his face in his hands to suppress his sobs.

After Stella had left, the Sinclair brothers had started to treat Selene well. It was true that they had only done so because they wanted to provoke Stella. But after years of interaction, there was no denying that they had grown attached to Selene.

Selene was usually overlooked in their household, but she was actually a genuinely good person.

She would get excited whenever the Sinclair brothers showed her the slightest bit of concern. And in return, she would treat them even better.

Selene would make them chicken soup after late nights of entertaining business clients. On their birthdays, she would cook their favorite dishes and prepare thoughtful little gifts.

Memories of all the things she had done surfaced in the minds of the Sinclair brothers. Only now did they realize how absurdly wrong they had been.

“Stella seemed upset just now. Let’s go check on her, she doesn’t have much time…”

The Sinclair brothers headed upstairs with a glass of milk. However, just as they reached Stella’s bedroom door, the sound of glass shattering rang out from inside the room. It was then followed by Stella’s resentful voice.

“That damn Selene! I thought everything would be fine once she was dead. It looks like I really underestimated her! I have no idea what trick she’s pulled to get everyone to cry over her. Even in death, she’s still a thorn in my side!”

Outside the room, the Sinclair brothers frowned at her words.

At first, they thought Stella had accidentally dropped a glass and were a little concerned. But now, they halted their footsteps, no longer intending to enter. Instead, they stood silently outside the door and even quieted their breathing.

The Sinclair brothers wanted to know what else Stella would say when alone and in private. She didn’t disappoint.

“That bitch, Selene, sure is hard to kill. I can’t believe that venomous snake and the car accident from before didn’t end her. But so what if she’s hardy? She still died in the end, and not even her corpse remains.”

When they heard this, the Sinclair brothers‘ breaths caught in their throats.

So, all those incidents had been Stella’s doing? And the truth behind those incidents was that she had been trying to get rid of Selene?

Their memories of the past few days flipped at this revelation. They had a completely different perspective on recent events.

If those two incidents were lies, then what about everything else? What was the truth behind those scandalous photos? And about Selene’s disappearance from the cliff?

Something was wrong… Nothing made sense!

Alaric drew deep, heavy breaths. It was as though he were a drowning man clutching onto a lifeline. Suddenly, he stormed into the room. Like a bull who had seen red, his furious gaze was fixed on Stella.

Broken shards from a glass cup were scattered across the floor. One could clearly tell what had happened from just a glance.

Stella had yet to school her expression, so her face was still twisted with rage. Given this, if she wasn’t the culprit, then who was?

As she heard a sound, Stella lifted her head. Her gaze met Alaric’s squarely.

With her usual demure facade gone, the Sinclair brothers barely recognized the woman before them. She looked like the same conceited Stella who relied on their doting favor. But after recalling what she had just said, everything about this situation seemed right.

The Sinclair brothers stopped in front of Stella. As they stared down at her, they took in her flustered expression.

When Alarie spoke again, his voice carried a sharp, biting edge. “What really happened with that venomous snake incident, Stella? Did Selene really try to harm you?”

Stella knew from his words that her brothers had overheard her earlier rant. She would be lying if she claimed her heart wasn’t racing. But in the end, she still managed to regain her composure.

Stella cautiously reached out for Alaric’s hand. When he didn’t pull away, she felt a surge of confidence and reverted to her

usual demeanor.

“Alaric, let me explain-”

She was cut off by the sound of Malcolm’s and a maid’s voices coming from downstairs.

“Where’s Stella?” Malcolm asked.

“Ms. Stella had gone to bed, sir. Please come back tomorrow,” the maid replied.

Then, the sound of footsteps ascending the steps was heard.

In the next moment, Malcolm appeared before them with an angry gaze and fury radiating from him.

“Paths No One Travels” By Chris Gayle 12 Chapter 12 Stella returned to the Sinclair residence and tearfully complained to […]

[25

post-19879","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-loving-you-hurts-like-hell-novel
["GET
