He was clearly trying to take advantage of her!

The door opened, revealing a simply furnished apartment with a black, white, and gray color scheme. It matched her personality perfectly. The only bright–colored objects were the rare medicinal herbs on the balcony that were thriving under her meticulous care.

Tristan scanned the surroundings before walking up to the gray couch in the living room, which looked extremely comfortable. Then, he sat down as if he were the owner of the apartment rather than a guest.

Liam led a few subordinates in, carrying bags of various sizes. They brought everything–custom indoor slippers for men, toiletries, brand new pajamas, a change of clothes, and even the mug and tea that Tristan usually drank.

In just half an hour, they almost cleared out a corner of the Hale residence and stuffed everything into Genevieve’s small

apartment.

Genevieve had a splitting headache.

With all the things Tristan had brought over, it seemed more like he was planning to stay at her apartment for seven years than seven days.

“What are you guys doing? Are you planning to set up a base camp here?” she asked.

Liam gave her a look as if to say this was simply how particular Tristan was. Then he replied respectfully, “Ms. Whitfield, Mr. Hale needs to rest and recuperate. All of these things are necessities for him.”

Genevieve was rendered speechless.

She took a deep breath, telling herself to calm down and that he was a patient who had gotten injured while saving her.

After she repeated that to herself three times, she walked up to Tristan and wrote a prescription for him at the coffee table.

“These are the medicinal herbs you will need for the next three days. Take them three times a day after your meals. Have your men buy them for you, and-”

Before she could finish, he pressed the prescription down on the table.

He lifted his head, fixing his darkened gaze on her.

“I told you that what I need is someone who can take care of me around the clock,” he said.

Genevieve frowned and asked, “What do you

mean?”

“I mean, from buying the medicine to preparing it and feeding it to me–even taking care of my meals and all my daily needs. All of this is your responsibility from now on,” said Tristan.

The following day, Tristan lounged on the couch, making himself completely at home. With one arm in a sling, he held the TV remote with his other hand as he flipped through the channels in boredom.

Genevieve had changed into a clean set of loungewear and was making a calming tonic for him in the kitchen. As she prepared the ingredients, she mentally cursed him to hell and back.

She had met people who bit the hands that fed them, but she had never met anyone who would force someone to return a favor. Yet, Tristan did it as if he had every right and even felt utterly justified doing so.

X CLOSE

Chapter 74

2/2

“Genevieve,” he called out to her very naturally from the living room.

Genevieve took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to throw the knife in her hand. Then she walked out.

“What do you want?” she asked in annoyance.

Tristan pointed at the cup on the coffee table and said, “I’m thirsty.”

Genevieve didn’t know what to say.

Resigning to her fate, she walked over and poured him a glass of warm water.

After he finished it, he pointed at the TV and said, “This show is so boring. Change the channel.”

Genevieve grabbed the remote with a blank face and switched to the finance channel.

“This is too noisy,” he said.

She then switched to a nature channel showing an animal documentary.

“This is too childish,” he said again.

The veins on Genevieve’s temples were starting to pop.

She slammed the remote on the coffee table with a loud thud.

“Tristan, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?” she hissed.

Amusement gleamed in Tristan’s eyes as he watched her get all riled up with anger, making her seem like a cat with its fur standing on end.

He quickly wiped the smug look off his face and put on an innocent expression as he slightly waved his injured arm.

you chose her so i married better 74
