Please help! Mr. Lambert Senior suffered another attack when he saw the news! Please come back and visit him!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All of the housekeepers in the Lambert residence had their heads bowed. None of them dared to even breathe too loudly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Zachary was already there when Genevieve stepped into their living room.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He had his back toward the door and was standing stiffly. The collar of his shirt was crooked and slanted. He looked almost pitifully hopeless.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When he heard her footsteps, he looked back and glared at her with bloodshot eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow dare you come here!\u201d he said in a hoarse voice full of hatred.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Genevieve looked past him. Her gaze landed on the tightly closed master bedroom door on the\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>second floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He clenched his fists tightly. \u201cGenevieve!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Lambert, please watch your temper,\u201d Jonathan said, stepping in front of Genevieve. \u201cMr. Lambert Senior is still upstairs.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That simple sentence put out all of the fury that Zachary was feeling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All he could do was watch as Genevieve went upstairs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Raymond lay weakly on his bed with an oxygen mask over his nose and mouth. The monitor near his bed let out simple, regular beeps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was once a regal man who could control many things with the wave of his hand. Now, he looked frail and weak, as if a gust of wind could blow him away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When he saw Genevieve, he began squirming to lift a hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Genevieve approached him and gently held his hand down. \u201cGrandpa, please rest.\u2018\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGen\u2026\u201d Raymond\u2019s frail, muffled voice called out to her from under his mask. \u201cP\u2013Please\u2026 don\u2019t leave. Please don\u2019t leave.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2\/3\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was the last card he had up his sleeve, and it was also the biggest step he was willing to take for Genevieve, for the sake of the Lambert family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Genevieve listened to him quietly. Her eyes softened for just a moment as if she was willing to give in, but her gaze hardened again just as quickly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She shook her head.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, thank you, Grandpa,\u201d she said, taking a brown envelope from Jonathan. She didn\u2019t open it. Instead, she simply placed it on Raymond\u2019s bedside table. \u201cJust take a look at this.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Raymond looked at her in confusion. With a quivering hand, he gestured for one of the housekeepers in the room to open it for him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There was a stack of bank statements showing transfers to an overseas account. Apart from that, there were a few documents showing proof of asset transfers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Every single transfer was from Lambert Group to some unknown foreign dummy company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Raymond\u2019s breathing grew erratic. His eyes widened in disbelief as he read through all the documents and statements. His hands trembled as they clutched onto the papers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He thought Zachary was just a fool in love, but he never imagined that his grandson would do something so despicable behind his and the entire Lambert family\u2019s back.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow\u2026 How dare he!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The ECG monitor suddenly started beeping loudly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoctor? Doctor!\u201d the nurse yelled.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Genevieve, however, was strangely calm. She simply raised a hand and lightly patted Raymond\u2019s heaving chest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrandpa,\u201d she said, leaning down. \u201cThis has nothing to do with Regina or Tristan. This was Zachary\u2019s decision all along. Don\u2019t worry. I\u2019ll find a way to save the Lambert family.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The beeping slowly faded away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After a long moment, Raymond closed his eyes slowly, as if his energy had been sucked out of him.
