Duncan tried to defend himself but eventually admitted, \u201cI\u2019m just not the romantic type. That\u2019s who I am\u2014it\u2019s in my nature, and I can\u2019t change it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He looked at her seriously and added, \u201cIf you regret marrying me, well, too bad. There\u2019s no turning back now. You\u2019re stuck with a rough man like me who doesn\u2019t understand romance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before Liberty could respond, Duncan silenced her with a kiss, pulling her into his embrace.<\/p>\n

Later, as they lay together, Liberty suddenly realized something. \u201cYou didn\u2019t use any protection.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have any birth control pills at home either,\u201d she added, narrowing her eyes at him.<\/p>\n

Duncan shrugged. \u201cYou should be in your safe period, so it should be fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no such thing as a 100% safe period. Accidents can still happen,\u201d she reminded him.<\/p>\n

After a brief pause, Duncan said, \u201cWell, if you do get pregnant, then we\u2019ll have the baby. Yangyang is already in kindergarten and studying in Wancheng. Without a little one around, the house feels too quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we haven\u2019t even had our wedding yet,\u201d Liberty pointed out. \u201cIf I\u2019m pregnant, it\u2019ll be exhausting to plan and attend a wedding while carrying a big belly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duncan thought for a moment. \u201cAfter you take them to the ancestral ceremony and officially become the head of the Feng family, we can start planning the wedding. If you do get pregnant, it won\u2019t be too obvious right away.\u201d<\/p>\n

He reached out and gently touched her stomach, a hopeful smile on his face. \u201cI\u2019d love for it to be a girl\u2014one who looks like you and is just as smart and adorable as Yangyang.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having a daughter as their second child would mean they had both a son and a daughter, and they wouldn\u2019t need to try for a third.<\/p>\n

Liberty studied him suspiciously. \u201cDid you do this on purpose?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo what on purpose?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou deliberately didn\u2019t take any precautions because you want me to get pregnant,\u201d she accused.<\/p>\n

Duncan shook his head, looking innocent. \u201cOf course not! You\u2019ve said you don\u2019t want a second child too soon, so I\u2019ve always been careful. This time\u2026I just got carried away.\u201d<\/p>\n

He truly hadn\u2019t planned it. He knew how busy Liberty was and how demanding pregnancy could be. The last thing he wanted was to put more pressure on her.<\/p>\n

Liberty chuckled. \u201cIt\u2019s already so late. The pharmacy is probably closed by now. Besides, I\u2019m in my safe period, so I doubt I\u2019ll get pregnant.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s just go to sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duncan kissed her forehead. \u201cGood night, honey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liberty closed her eyes, but that night, she kept having dreams\u2014dreams where she was pregnant and gave birth to a daughter.<\/p>\n

Strangely, the baby didn\u2019t look like her at all. Instead, she was the spitting image of Duncan.<\/p>\n

Not that Duncan was unattractive\u2014he was actually quite handsome. It was just the scar on his face that made him look a bit fierce.<\/p>\n

In her dream, Duncan became a doting father, completely obsessed with their daughter. From the moment she was born, he hardly let go of her, carrying her everywhere. As a result, their little girl grew attached to him and only wanted her father.<\/p>\n

Since Liberty was always busy managing the company, she had opted to feed their daughter formula instead of breastfeeding, making it easier for Duncan to care for her as a stay-at-home dad. Unfortunately, this only deepened the bond between father and daughter, leaving Liberty feeling slightly left out.<\/p>\n

As their daughter grew older, Duncan proudly carried her around to show her off. Every time he met up with his friends\u2014many of whom only had sons\u2014he would parade his little girl in front of them, making them jealous.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a shameless show-off,\u201d Liberty muttered in her sleep, laughing.<\/p>\n

Duncan, half-asleep, nudged her. \u201cWife, what are you dreaming about? You look so happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still groggy, Liberty slowly opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, taking a moment to regain her senses.<\/p>\n

So it was just a dream.<\/p>\n

But it had felt so real\u2014so real that, for a moment, she actually believed she had given birth to a daughter.<\/p>\n
