However, when he truly looked at her, his gaze turned greedy as he focused intently on her features, wanting to etch her image deep within his heart.

He opened his mouth, intending to speak, but found his throat constricted, rendering him speechless.

He must be dreaming.

He had said he couldn’t see Liberty, and his parents had barred her entry.

This had to be a dream.

Duncan closed his eyes again.

When soft tissue brushed against his skin, he opened his eyes once more.

This was not a dream.

It was really Liberty!

She had actually come in!

Who had let her in?

Duncan’s eyes grew cold, his expression remained detached as he suddenly raised his hand, roughly swatting Liberty’s hand away. He asked icily, “Who let you in? I don’t want to see you; get out! Are you not satisfied that I’ve been hurt like this? Go, go, go, I don’t want you here!”

Liberty calmly withdrew her hand to wipe her sweat and replied, “Your mom came to me, offering a job at $10,000 per day to care for you for a month. Since I accepted the money, I’ll take care of you. Even if you don’t want to see me, there’s nothing you can do about it. Close your eyes; if you do, you won’t be able to see me.” She discarded the tissue and continued, “You haven’t even eaten lunch. Are you hungry? I made some bone soup for you, and it’s still warm. Do you want to drink it yourself, or should I feed you?”

Duncan stared at her.

“Also, Mr. Lewis, it wasn’t me who caused this; it was you driving too fast. You must face the consequences of your own mistakes. Sonny knows this. From now on, drive as you please, but don’t think you’re flying a plane.”

While Liberty was speaking, she stood up and rummaged through the drawer of the bedside table, searching for a bowl for Duncan to drink from.

Duncan: “…”

“What are you looking for? Are you planning to steal something?” Duncan asked with a scowl.

“I’m trying to ‘steal’ a bowl for you to drink soup from. Can I take one?”

Duncan: “…”

He had broken the bowl.

Since Liberty couldn’t find a bowl, she said, “Then you’ll have to drink soup from the insulated lunch box.”

“I won’t drink it, and I’m not hungry, so leave! Just go!” Duncan shouted. He wanted to sit up but the pain in his legs forced him to abandon the idea.

Noticing Liberty remained unfazed, he grabbed his pillow and threw it at her.

Liberty effortlessly caught the pillow and placed it on the bed beside him. “Mr. Lewis, I just told you that Mrs. Lewis paid a considerable amount for me to care for you. She has already given me a generous salary, which I have no intention of returning. Therefore, I will continue to care for you.”

Duncan: “I’ll give you $600,000 if you leave and stop taking care of me!”

Duncan suspected his mother would seek out Liberty, so he continued to act as if he blamed her, yet he was surprised when his mother still approached Liberty.

His mother had also invested a lot of money to hire Liberty for his care.

“Isn’t this a stroke of luck? Is there really such a good deal? But I’ve always been practical and don’t believe in luck. I’d prefer to take care of Mr. Lewis reliably with the $10,000 daily salary that Mrs. Lewis provides me.”

Duncan pounded the bed, “Liberty, leave! I don’t want to see you!
