After observing Duncan\u2019s feelings, they decided to support him, but Liberty remained uninterested in remarrying. Although Duncan had no romantic feelings for anyone, Mrs. Lewis was fiercely opposed to their potential relationship, leading Zachary to consider persuading Duncan to let go.<\/p>\n

Zachary believed that even if Liberty agreed to Duncan\u2019s advances, achieving happiness would be challenging due to Mrs. Lewis\u2019s role as a mother-in-law. He found himself in a difficult position, torn between his closest friend and his sister. While he felt compelled to convince Duncan to move on, his friend interpreted this as a lack of support. As a result, Zachary felt as though he was pushing Liberty into a dangerous situation.<\/p>\n

He viewed the relationship between himself and Serenity as less complicated than that of Liberty and Duncan. Duncan realized his feelings for Liberty after she experienced an accident. Both Zachary and Josh were pessimistic about Duncan and Liberty\u2019s future, believing that the difficulties they faced were greater than before. Unfortunately, they had no romantic relationship. Now, Lily had moved on from Duncan and limited their interactions to business.<\/p>\n

Mr. Lewis sighed again, saying, \u201cOnce Duncan recovers, if he wishes to pursue Liberty, his mother and I will never stand in his way. As long as our son is happy, he can choose his own path.\u201d <\/p>\n

It was a minor issue. <\/p>\n

Zachary and Josh exchanged glances and could only offer a few words of comfort. <\/p>\n

As he shifted, Mrs. Lewis, who had been watching over him, noticed and stood up in surprise. \u201cDuncan is awake! Call the doctor!\u201d she urged her husband. <\/p>\n

\u201cDuncan,\u201d Mrs. Lewis said, moving closer to examine his pale face, her eyes filled with tears once more. <\/p>\n

Duncan remained still and struggled to look around the room. Besides his family and friends, he noticed Liberty and Sonny among the crowd. <\/p>\n

Liberty held Sonny tightly, who, feeling tired, rested his head on his mother\u2019s shoulder. <\/p>\n

Mrs. Lewis\u2019s shout must have startled Sonny, as he opened his eyes, lifted his head, and turned to gaze at Duncan in the hospital bed. <\/p>\n

Their eyes met. <\/p>\n
