Zachary said, \u201cSister, we\u2019re family, so there\u2019s no need to be so formal.\u201d<\/div>\n
He was concerned that Liberty might refuse his assistance.<\/div>\n
Fortunately, Liberty was eager to move into the rented house and accepted Zachary\u2019s help.<\/div>\n
With her brother-in-law\u2019s support, Liberty quickly relocated to her new rental while Zachary left the office to go drinking with Duncan.<\/div>\n
Only Zachary and Serenity were aware of her new address; even Mrs. Stone was in the dark.<\/div>\n
In an elegant hotel room, the table was laden with dishes ordered by Duncan, along with several bottles of spirits.<\/div>\n
At that moment, Zachary and Josh sat beside him, watching as he downed one drink after another.<\/div>\n
\u201cDuncan, let\u2019s order some food,\u201d Zachary suggested.<\/div>\n
He ordered food for Duncan, perhaps feeling guilty for siding with Liberty.<\/div>\n
It wasn\u2019t that he didn\u2019t want to help Duncan; it was just that Liberty had no feelings for him, and Mrs. Lewis seemed to disapprove as well.<\/div>\n
Zachary felt compelled to respect Liberty\u2019s decision.<\/div>\n
\u201cDuncan, we should get a bowl of soup too. You\u2019ve been drinking nonstop since you got here. Drinking on an empty stomach can easily lead to intoxication. Don\u2019t overdo it; if you end up with alcohol poisoning, Josh and I will have to take responsibility,\u201d Zachary advised as Josh filled Duncan\u2019s bowl with soup.<\/div>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so frustrated,\u201d Duncan said, picking up the food from the bowl Zachary had prepared for him.<\/div>\n
After a couple of bites, he raised his wine glass and gulped it down as if it were water, despite its potency.<\/div>\n
Setting the glass down, he reached to refill it, but Zachary intervened.<\/div>\n
\u201cDuncan, don\u2019t drink so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve had quite a few glasses already. This type of wine has a strong effect, and you won\u2019t feel much until it\u2019s too late. You\u2019ll be drunk before you know it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cDuncan, I envy you,\u201d Zachary said, as Duncan patted him on the shoulder. \u201cI genuinely envy you and Josh; you both seem to have it better than I do.\u201d <\/p>\n

After a brief silence, Zachary turned to Duncan and said, \u201cDuncan, my sister isn\u2019t interested in pursuing a relationship with you. She\u2019s not ready to remarry, so it\u2019s best to let go. Continuing this way will only lead to your suffering.\u201d <\/p>\n

Josh added his support, saying, \u201cYes, I believe Sister Liberty truly has no interest in this. Your pursuit has caused her a lot of trouble, and my aunt, Mrs. Lewis, disapproves. Your closest family members don\u2019t support it either, so it\u2019s time to move on.\u201d <\/p>\n

Duncan looked at both Zachary and Josh, saying, \u201cHow long have I been pursuing Liberty? If it were ten or eight years and she still didn\u2019t accept me, it might make sense for you to tell me to give up. But I\u2019ve only just started, and you want me to stop? I know this path is difficult, yet I will persist. My mother will eventually come around, and I believe that with time, Liberty will accept me.\u201d <\/p>\n

Zachary glanced at Duncan, feeling a pang of guilt. <\/p>\n

Duncan continued to chat with his friends until he became quite intoxicated. Josh then took him home, while Zachary prepared for an event. <\/p>\n

After the event, Zachary returned home and lay in bed with his beloved wife in his arms, remaining silent for a long while. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong?\u201d Serenity asked, her concern evident. <\/p>\n

Zachary replied, \u201cIs my sister\u2019s new home settled?\u201d <\/p>\n

Serenity reassured him, \u201cYes, those you arranged to help have successfully settled everything.\u201d <\/p>\n

Zachary buried his face in Serenity\u2019s neck and spoke softly:<\/p>\n

\u201cSeren, I always feel sorry for Duncan. I think tomorrow he will come to me and ask about this situation. What do you think I should say to him?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t Duncan drunk? If he is, he\u2019ll have a headache tomorrow and probably won\u2019t visit my sister,\u201d Serenity said, wrapping her arms around Zachary, aware of the challenges he faced as a man. <\/p>\n

Zachary replied, \u201cHe will reach out to me eventually. Sigh, I just don\u2019t know when those two will find resolution, whether it will be good or bad. If there is a resolution, we won\u2019t have to be stuck in this dilemma.\u201d<\/p>\n
