He stopped teasing his cousin and looked at him earnestly. “Andrew, do you truly love Elisa?” he asked.

“Not at all,” Andrew quickly replied.

“It was only tonight that I realized Mrs. Stone’s motives. There have been several times when she encountered accidents on the road, and I happened to run into her and took her home. Now, I suspect those incidents were orchestrated.”

Andrew was no fool.

Upon recognizing Mrs. Stone’s intentions, he analyzed the situation and concluded that she had been scheming to arrange meetings with him.

Mr. and Mrs. Stone shared a strong bond. After retiring, Mr. Stone would follow his wife wherever she went.

However, he didn’t accompany her on her walks, and coincidentally, Mrs. Stone had left her phone behind when she sprained her ankle. How could there be so many coincidences?

“Zack, I know Elisa once loved you and pursued you openly. I won’t pursue a relationship with her because I believe it’s unwise.”

Zachary replied, “That’s not the issue. She did love me, but we never got together. Once she found out I was married, she ceased her advances. She’s very rational when it comes to relationships. Most importantly, the person she currently likes is Remy, the fifth young master of the Johnsons.”

“Even though Elisa and Remy haven’t made their relationship public, it’s clear they have a strong connection. Both are stubborn in matters of the heart. If you interfere with their relationship, you’ll only end up hurt.”

It wasn’t that Zachary believed Andrew was unsuitable for Elisa or that he opposed their potential relationship. Andrew could pursue Elisa as long as she was single. Now that Elisa was in a relationship, however,

Zachary opposed his cousin’s relationship with Elisa because he didn’t want his cousin to endure the same hurt he had suffered due to her in the past.

“Zack, I never said I liked Elisa. I noticed that Remy and Elisa are together. Fortunately, Remy was present during dinner tonight; otherwise, I would have felt uncomfortable,” Andrew remarked.

With Remy at the dinner, Andrew was able to converse with him instead of facing Mrs. Stone and Elisa alone.

“I could tell Elisa was initially clueless about it, but she’s perceptive. Eventually, she seemed to understand her mother’s intentions. She was polite to me, but she had no real interest,” Andrew continued.

“It’s good that you’ve recognized that. Elisa can be headstrong at times, but she has an admirable worldview,” Zachary replied.

“As long as neither of you shows interest in each other, Mrs. Stone won’t be able to influence the situation,” Zachary assured him.

After contemplating this, Andrew agreed and let out a sigh of relief.

Just then, Liberty brought Elisa in. As they walked, Elisa complained, “I just had an argument with my mom. I was speaking the truth, and she kicked me out of the car only because she couldn’t win against me!

“Seren, your aunt threw me out of the car, but I’m her daughter. She always claimed to love me the most among her three children and that I was her pride and joy. Yet, she ended up kicking me out!”

“Luckily, I managed to get a cab. What would I have done if she had abandoned me in a remote area?”

Being tossed out of the car by her mother was a significant blow to Elisa.

From Elisa’s complaints, Seren understood the gist of the situation.

“I’m not going home tonight, Seren. Please arrange a guest room for me so I can stay here for a night. Alternatively, you could lend me a car to return to my house and stay there for a few days. I refuse to go home.”

“Home since my mom kicked me out…”

“Seren.”

Elisa abruptly halted and turned to the two men on the couch. She whispered, “Andrew is here. Why didn’t you tell me he was here?”

Serenity replied innocently, “You were talking non-stop as soon as you got out of the cab. I didn’t have a chance to interrupt. How could I let you know? It’s fine that Andrew is here; he came to see his cousin, not you.”

Elisa inquired, “They didn’t hear what I just said, did they?”

“I don’t think so.”

They were a bit far from Elisa.

Only then did Elisa, accompanied by Serenity, calmly approach the two men. “Zack, Mr. Reading.”

Chapter 1647 Andrew’s words caused Zachary to maintain a serious expression.
