Duncan entered but quickly turned around and left without greeting the Hunt sisters.<\/div>\n

As Serenity pondered Duncan\u2019s abrupt departure, he reentered the diner.<\/div>\n

Serenity replied, \u201cI haven\u2019t had the signature breakfast at my sister\u2019s diner in a while and was craving it, so I came early. Mr. Lewis, you\u2019re also quite early.\u201d<\/div>\n
It was only seven o\u2019clock in the morning.<\/div>\n
Serenity\u2019s husband was still asleep when she left home.<\/div>\n
Before leaving, she intentionally left a note on the bedside table for Zachary to prevent him from waking up in a bad mood when he noticed her absence. He often blamed her for not waiting for him and for ignoring him.<\/div>\n

\nLiberty was busy managing her diner and had to rise early each day. It wasn\u2019t practical for her to bring Sonny with her, so the little guy stayed with Serenity at night. In the morning, Jim would take Sonny to class.
\nDuncan hummed and then handed the bouquet to Liberty, his dark eyes fixed on her as he said, \u201cLiberty, this is for you.\u201d
\nLiberty stood up and met Duncan\u2019s intense gaze directly, declining the bouquet. \u201cThank you, Mr. Lewis, but I don\u2019t like flowers. I\u2019ll cook you breakfast instead.\u201d
\nDuncan was mentally prepared for Liberty\u2019s rejection of the bouquet. When he confessed his feelings to her, she had made it clear that she didn\u2019t share the same sentiments. Thus, he was always ready for her to turn him down.
\n\u201cI\u2019ll have the same thing,\u201d Duncan replied.
\nLiberty walked away. Duncan didn\u2019t follow her but sat across from Serenity, placing the bouquet on the table. Serenity kept glancing at the two of them. After Duncan settled in, Serenity lowered her head to eat her breakfast.
\n\u201cZachary didn\u2019t come with you?\u201d Duncan asked, looking for a topic to ease the tension.
\n\u201cHe\u2019s still asleep. I have to go to the bookstore, so I left the house early,\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n
