Both were of similar height and had an imposing presence, leading to an intense stare-down.

“These flowers are… blinding,” Clive remarked, breaking the silence.

While he respected Remy for the man he was, Clive felt protective of Elisa now that Remy was openly pursuing her. He wanted nothing more than to toss the flowers into the trash and tell Remy to leave. He wasn’t going to allow just anyone to court his sister.

Maintaining a positive demeanor, Remy glanced at the bouquet of roses and replied, “The flowers are stunning and dazzling. I mean, they are blinding—gorgeously blinding.”

“I don’t think Elisa is home,” Clive said.

Remy had been keeping an eye on the Stones’ activities, so he knew Elisa had been home all afternoon to keep her mother company.

Even Clive and his wife had stayed in.

Only Darrell and Anthony had been out and about.

This was one of the advantages of being neighbors; Remy had a good sense of who was home.

“Since you’re

“Here for a visit at this hour? Are you trying to freeload dinner again?”

Remy smiled and replied, “Elisa always wants me to stay. I can’t say no to her.”

Clive felt the urge to confront Remy; the man had no shame.

Remy had overstayed his welcome, and his sister had only invited him to dinner out of courtesy.

“Let’s talk, Remy,” Clive said.

Remy nodded, grinning. “Anytime.”

“We should go to your place.”

After a moment of consideration, Remy agreed.

The two headed to Remy’s home. Once there, Remy invited Clive to sit under a gazebo and apologetically explained, “The house is undergoing remodeling. It’s a mess for hosting guests, so I hope you don’t mind sitting here.”

“Mr. Johnson, I don’t think we’re close enough for first names. Remy, we understand why you visit so often. Honestly, I admire you, as does my mom, but we don’t approve of you as a husband for Elisa.”

“Is it because I’m from Annenburg?” Remy inquired.

“You’re aware of that, I see. My mom was a career woman in her youth and is quite headstrong about what she wants. Elisa is her pride and joy, and she doesn’t want her marrying someone from a distance. Changing my mother’s mind will be a challenge.”

“Remy, you should know when to back off. Stop appearing in front of Elisa. I don’t think your relationship with her will go anywhere,” Clive urged, hoping to convince Remy to let go.

Looking…

As they walked around his property, Remy asked Clive, “What do you think of my place, Mr. Stone?”
“It’s nice,” Clive replied.
“Is it far from your house?” Remy inquired.
*

Chapter 1579 On the other side, Remy continued to observe the builders at work after his phone call with Zachary.
