Jasmine walked Josh to the door.<\/div>\n
His driver was waiting outside.<\/div>\n
\u201cYou don\u2019t need to take me any further. Go back to sleep,\u201d Josh said, turning to Jasmine.<\/div>\n
\u201cI need to close the gates,\u201d she replied.<\/div>\n
Jasmine gently patted the dog that approached her, rubbing against her leg. It shook its head and wagged its tail.<\/div>\n
Moments later, it returned to its corner and lay down.<\/div>\n
Josh glanced at the dog and chuckled. \u201cYour dog is very obedient and doesn\u2019t bark. Zachary was terrified by it last time.\u201d<\/div>\n
Jasmine nodded. \u201cSometimes it doesn\u2019t bark, but it\u2019s excellent at guarding our home. Since we got it, no one has dared to climb over the wall at night. Thieves used to disable the surveillance camera above my fence and jump over to get in.\u201d<\/div>\n
Her parents were light sleepers and would hear movements outside, allowing the thieves to enter but forcing them to flee without even managing to pick the lock on the front door.<\/div>\n

The following day, Serenity visited her sister at the hospital as usual.<\/div>\n
\u201cSeren, I\u2019m fine now, and Mrs. Lane is taking care of me. You don\u2019t need to be here every day. Just do what you need to do,\u201d Liberty said after Serenity placed the insulated lunch box down.<\/div>\n

\u201cOur bookstore hasn\u2019t been open for a while,\u201d Serenity thought. Now that her sister was recovering well and being cared for by Mrs. Lane, Serenity felt more at ease. However, she worried that if she didn\u2019t return to the store soon, people might assume she planned to close it down and settle into a domestic life. Mr. Charles might lose his bet with his friends, especially since he had won quite a bit last time.<\/p>\n

\u201cSonny went to the gym?\u201d Serenity asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, Jim sent him there,\u201d came the reply.<\/p>\n

Serenity took out her phone and said, \u201cI\u2019ll call Jim and ask him to send Sonny to my store after his class so I can have some company.\u201d After all, Sonny was still young and would likely be bored spending every day in the hospital.<\/p>\n

Liberty hummed in agreement. \u201cJasmine went to get her marriage license today?\u201d she asked with a smile. \u201cHer engagement party last night must have been lively, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
