Chelsea thought to herself.

She could not imagine spending time with someone like him; he was far too aloof!

Feeling uneasy, she avoided looking at Zachary and instead smiled at Serenity, saying, “Can I have a moment alone with you, Serenity?”

Serenity replied, “What is it that you can’t say right now?”

Chelsea glanced briefly at Zachary and then back at Serenity. Indeed, Serenity was the more attractive of the two.

Previously, Chelsea had treated Serenity poorly and had even encouraged her brother to argue with Liberty, hoping to force Serenity to move out. Her motives were twofold: she wanted to create space for her children and planned to enroll them in a city middle school.

Moreover, Chelsea felt envious of Serenity’s youth and beauty. Liberty had also been beautiful before her marriage, but she neglected her appearance and gained weight. Unlike Liberty, Serenity maintained a model-like figure through daily exercise.

It is often said that opposites attract while similarities repel.

Over time, Chelsea’s jealousy toward Serenity intensified.

However, her perspective shifted; she began to feel grateful toward Serenity. Instead of envy, she found herself admiring Serenity’s beauty and kindness. A girl like her deserved to be blessed by fate, to marry an exceptional man like Zachary, and to enjoy a life filled with glory and wealth.

“Serenity, I really think we should talk privately.”

Serenity looked at her husband, aware that Chelsea was intimidated by Zachary. She turned to him and said, “Babe, please wait for me in the car.”

Zachary replied firmly, “I’ll wait for you here. You two can talk, and I’ll be able to see you without interrupting.”

He indicated the end of the corridor, suggesting that Serenity and Chelsea speak there. He would be able to see them from the ward door, but he wouldn’t be able to hear their conversation.

Serenity complied with his request and walked to the end of the corridor, prompting Chelsea to follow her.

When Serenity reached the end, she turned to Chelsea and asked coldly, “What do you want to talk to me about, Chelsea?”

“Is your sister feeling better?” Chelsea inquired. “We’re worried about her injury, so we visit every day. You might find it annoying, but we genuinely care. Oh, and what about Sonny? Would you like us to look after him for now?”

“Well, you need to focus on your sister. It will be overwhelming if you have to manage Sonny too, especially with your store’s business to handle. I’m not working right now, and Lucas has started preschool, so I have time to help you. Sonny is my nephew as well, and I love him just as much.”

Serenity declined the offer. “We have plenty of people who can care for a child, so you don’t need to worry, Chelsea. My sister is doing well and should be able to come home to recover in a week. Thank you for your concern.”

Chelsea had initially offered to look after Sonny to break the ice, fully aware that the Hunt sisters would never allow the Brown family to have custody of him again.

It was all that wicked woman Jessica’s fault. Sonny had nearly been harmed, and Liberty had been injured because of her.

Chelsea’s brother was equally useless.

Sonny was still so young—couldn’t he have carried him away?

He couldn’t even protect Sonny, yet he still wanted to bring him back to live with the Browns.

What frustrated Chelsea the most was Hank’s constant running around for Jessica’s issues after she had caused so much trouble.

He was taken away by the police. He considered begging the Hunt sisters numerous times, hoping Liberty would forgive Jessica. This would lead to a more lenient sentence for Jessica. Fortunately, Chelsea’s parents supported her and had been preventing Hank from pleading with Liberty, both directly and indirectly. Despite Chelsea’s foolishness, she understood that if Hank were to ask Liberty for forgiveness on Jessica’s behalf, it would make it difficult for the Browns to meet Sonny in the future.

Chapter 1440 How did Serenity manage to win over such a cold and arrogant man?
