They went to Liberty’s diner,” she informed him.

Zachary inquired, “How long have they been gone?”

“About twenty minutes. Serenity woke up and said she needed to pick Sonny up from her sister’s, so they left early.”

Zachary thanked Mrs. Sox, saying, “I’ll head to my sister-in-law’s breakfast place then.”

“Okay,” replied Mrs. Sox.

Zachary quickly drove away from the Soxes’ residence.

While on the road, he dialed Liberty’s number.

Liberty answered the call.

“Morning, Liberty.”

“Oh, morning, Zachary. What’s up? You must be looking for Serenity. She and Jasmine are having breakfast here.”

Unaware of the couple’s recent argument, Liberty, busy with tasks, passed the phone to her sister, saying, “It’s Zachary.”

With Serenity now on the line, Liberty returned to her work.

Serenity considered hanging up, but Zachary’s anxious voice stopped her. “Please don’t hang up, honey. I know it’s my fault. I’m responsible for everything. I shouldn’t have left you alone and gone off on my own. It’s all my fault.”

She listened without a

“Don’t ignore me, honey. Please don’t avoid me, okay? Don’t leave just yet. We can have a good conversation. I can accompany you if you want to check on the progress of your project.”

Serenity finally broke her silence, replying in a flat tone, “I wouldn’t dream of asking the esteemed Mr. York to keep me company, especially since he’s busy.”

“I’m sorry, honey.”

Zachary felt compelled to apologize in response to his wife’s sarcastic remarks.

“Be careful on the road. I’m having my breakfast,” Serenity said softly before ending the call. She handed her phone back to her sister.

“What’s up?” Liberty asked as she continued cooking for the customers.

“My phone was on silent last night. He panicked when he couldn’t reach me, so he called you instead.”

Serenity took her phone out to turn off silent mode.

“Why did you suddenly put your phone on silent? You can finish your work later. There’s no need to look after Sonny. The boy starts his lessons at the gym today.”

“Okay.” Serenity had momentarily forgotten that Zachary had arranged for her nephew to learn self-defense.

Zachary had frustrated her so much that her memory was slipping.

Jim was responsible for picking Sonny up and dropping him off at William’s gym.

Serenity left before Zachary arrived at the diner.

Along with Jasmine and Elisa, she headed to her hometown.

Before leaving, she sent Zachary a text message:

“Home for dinner tonight.”

This was her way of conceding in their argument.

There was a clear distinction between loving someone and not loving them.

The couple often gave each other the cold shoulder without backing down during times when they were not in love. Serenity had thought little of their quarrels back then.

Now that they had feelings for each other, they found themselves missing one another.

He was acting unusually frantic after just one night apart, which made her feel guilty. Upon receiving his wife’s message, Zachary headed directly to the office instead of visiting his sister-in-law’s diner. At the entrance of the office building, he encountered his future sister-in-law, Camryn. She was holding a cane in one hand and a bouquet in the other, seemingly there to deliver flowers to Callum. As she noticed steady footsteps approaching, Camryn halted in her tracks.

Chapter 1379 Zachary observed as Mrs. Sox returned to the house, closing the door behind her.
