Since Serenity was not in the best mood, Jasmine decided to take a walk with her nearby afterward.

“Seren, I remember you saying that your in-laws didn’t pressure you to have children. Why are you putting so much stress on yourself?”

The two were best friends who could easily pass for sisters. Jasmine had been there throughout Serenity and Zachary’s journey together and had never heard of the York family rushing Serenity to start a family.

“They haven’t pressured me, but I worry that I might be the reason I’m not pregnant yet.”

Serenity sighed and continued, “No one is pressuring me, but I can’t help feeling the weight of expectation. Even if my in-laws are from a regular family, I would still be concerned about not getting pregnant after being married for a while. It wouldn’t bother me as much if we were using protection.”

Jasmine thought about the families she knew. Most women typically got pregnant shortly after their weddings, but many of those marriages were rushed. In society’s eyes, a woman married for more than six months who was trying to conceive without protection would attract gossip.

She empathized with her best friend’s situation.

“Seren, I haven’t been married myself and haven’t gone through this, but I know you can’t put pressure on yourself. It’s harder to conceive if you can’t stop worrying about it. I believe everything will be fine. Just relax and clear your mind. Obsessing over it won’t help you.”

Serenity let out another sigh.

“Jasmine, I’m not upset about not being pregnant. We argued, and Zachary just left. The look and tone he had really hurt me.”

Wrapping her arm around her best friend’s shoulder, Jasmine offered her support. “It’s frustrating and infuriating that Mr. York acted that way. I’m furious for you. You should stay with me tonight.”

“Don’t rush to go with him as soon as he arrives to pick you up. Let him experience some anxiety. I’ll inform my parents to disregard any noise outside,” she said.
“He enjoys dismissing me when he throws a fit. He might already be back at the manor. I don’t expect him to come for me since he’s been giving me the cold shoulder,” Serenity remarked with a hint of sarcasm.
“Perhaps that’s for the best. We can both take a moment to calm down. I need to reflect and stop being so hard on myself. Whatever happens, let’s explore our farming fields tomorrow,” she suggested.
Jasmine smiled and replied, “Of course! I’ll accompany you wherever you want to go.”
“I’ll only take a day from your busy schedule. Your engagement with Mr. Bucham is approaching. You won’t have much free time. Jasmine, things are going well between you and Mr. Bucham. While you may not have a whirlwind romance, you have something genuine in the everyday.”
Jasmine and Josh had never fought.
Josh had a high emotional intelligence and a good temperament, unlike Zachary, who was accustomed to others complying with him. Although Zachary tried hard to change for Serenity, his arrogance as an heir sometimes took precedence.
“Seren, your relationship with Mr. York is strong too. Occasionally squabbling won’t alter how you feel about each other. You can only grow from here,” Jasmine reassured her.
Serenity fell silent for a moment before saying, “Let’s head back. I had a bit too much to drink last night, and my head is pounding since I haven’t caught up on sleep today.”
“Sure,” Jasmine replied.
She walked home with her best friend and even told her parents to enjoy their sleep and not worry about what might happen that night.
“Dad, should we let the hounds out tonight?”
Mr. Sox replied, “I don’t keep them on a leash at night.”
Serenity followed Jasmine upstairs to her room.
“Put on my clothes, Seren. I have plenty of options.”

“I have some new clothes that I haven’t worn. We’re about the same size, so my clothes should fit you,” Jasmine said. She went to her closet to retrieve the new clothes for Serenity.

As Serenity moved closer to the window and pulled back the curtain to look outside, Jasmine glanced downstairs and remarked, “My dogs will bark when he arrives.”

“Will your dogs bite if they’re not on a leash?” Serenity asked.

With a grin, Jasmine replied, “We lock the gate at night, so the dogs can’t get out to bite anyone. The most they do is bark. But it would be a different story if Mr. York decides to climb the fence.” Would Zachary really climb over the fence?

Chapter 1374 The Soxes had just finished their dinner.
