As they walked, Zachary said, \u201cSonny, I\u2019ve arranged for an instructor to teach you how to fight. I wouldn\u2019t want to impose on you.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Liberty thought to herself, \u2018Hiring Duncan as my son\u2019s instructor must be expensive. While I\u2019ve made some money now, it doesn\u2019t mean I can afford him.\u2019<\/div>\n<div>Zachary had hired the son of the instructor who had taught him, his brother, and their cousins. Though the son wasn\u2019t as skilled as their instructor, he knew enough to guide Sonny in the right direction.<\/div>\n<div>Reminded of his heavy workload, Duncan smiled but didn\u2019t say anything further.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cThis is William Jr., the son of William Sr., who taught me, my brothers, and my cousins. He\u2019s quite skilled and has opened several gyms of his own. Many people learn to fight from him,\u201d Zachary introduced William to his sister-in-law.<\/div>\n<div>Liberty greeted William.<\/div>\n<div>William appeared to be around Duncan\u2019s age. He was a respectable young man with a tall build. Though he had a stern look, he managed a slight smile.<\/div>\n<p>\u201cHello, everybody,\u201d Liberty greeted him. <\/p>\n<p>Zachary set Sonny down. <\/p>\n<p>William knelt to Sonny\u2019s eye level, carefully assessing him. He felt Sonny\u2019s limbs and torso before turning to Zachary and saying, \u201cMr. Zachary, we can train your nephew from a young age, and after years of training, he\u2019ll be capable of taking down a dozen opponents on his own.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I doubt he can become the champion of the world,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p>Zachary replied, \u201cWe just want Sonny to learn to fight and defend himself, William. He doesn\u2019t need to be famous for being the best; just teach him to the best of your ability.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>For those in their circle, the art of self-defense was simply that\u2014self-defense. There was no need to seek recognition in the fighting world. Many people pursued it as a hobby or took a class or two. <\/p>\n<p>The York family hired professionals to teach them how to inflict real damage, following Grandma May\u2019s wishes. Zachary noted that Serenity\u2019s skills were sufficient to handle girls or typical thugs. However, he acknowledged that Serenity would stand no chance against a true professional. <\/p>\n<p>William felt a sense of relief. Rather than feeling flattered, he felt the pressure when Zachary sought his assistance. He worried that Zachary might have high expectations that he wouldn\u2019t be able to fulfill. <\/p>\n<p>William was in no position to decline, as the York boys had trained under his father. This was why he accompanied Zachary to meet his future and youngest student. Fortunately, Zachary had no intention of thrusting the boy into the spotlight of the fighting world.
