When his mother-in-law demanded a high bride price, Jessica stood by Hank\u2019s side and secretly obtained their marriage license without her parents\u2019 knowledge. There was little her mother could do about it.<\/div>\n<div>Eventually, the bride price was lowered to tens of thousands of dollars.<\/div>\n<div>Even so, this amount was still significant for Wiltspoon\u2019s countryside. Both families were ordinary and not wealthy, making it difficult to compare with affluent families.<\/div>\n<div>However, after receiving the bride price, the Yateses insisted that the Browns cover the costs of the wedding reception or there would be no celebration at all. If that were the case, the Yateses planned to bring a group of relatives to the city for a wedding dinner at the Browns\u2019 residence instead.<\/div>\n<div>Hank discussed this with his parents and ultimately agreed to the Yateses\u2019 terms.
