Ultimately, she discovered that Liberty has no interest in her son and is solely focused on her store and making money.”

Zachary’s analysis was more comprehensive than Serenity’s.

“If Liberty had shown even the slightest interest in Duncan, Mrs. Lewis would not have allowed her to continue running her store.”

Serenity concurred with her husband.

Mrs. Lewis was indeed testing Liberty, but Liberty was unaware of it. However, that was a good thing; at least Liberty wouldn’t be influenced.

“Babe, do you think I should inform my sister about all this?”

“Mrs. Lewis is in a bind, which means she’s in the same situation as us. She has her suspicions but lacks evidence. There’s no need to mention anything to Liberty. I’ll speak to Duncan and advise him not to visit your sister’s store for breakfast as often in the future.”

Zachary silently grumbled about Duncan, thinking, ‘He has breakfast waiting for him at home. Why does he insist on waking up early every weekend to go all the way to All You Can Eat for breakfast?’

“Okay.”

After Zachary finished his meal, Serenity smiled and asked, “Would you like me to accompany you anywhere else?”

Zachary affectionately flicked her forehead. “Of course. I’ve eaten too much and need to take a walk to aid digestion. Come with me downstairs.”

Serenity beamed. “It would be my honor.”

“Don’t be so formal. You’re just walking with me; it’s nothing that special.”

Mrs. Lane smiled as she watched the couple head out for a walk.

Serenity wanted to bring Snowball with her.

She looked at the man beside her, then glanced at Snowball, who seemed eager to follow. Ultimately, she chose her companion and left Snowball behind.

There were quite a few people walking around the neighborhood, many of whom had dogs with them.

Zachary preferred to keep his distance from small animals. Whenever he encountered someone with a dog, he would pull Serenity closer and steer clear of them. One person walking his dog, feeling embarrassed, said to the couple, “My dog doesn’t bite.”

The residents of the area primarily kept small dogs as pets.

Serenity offered a sheepish smile at the man but refrained from explaining that her husband had an aversion to furry animals.

As for Zachary, he maintained an icy demeanor when they were outside. His expression was as hard as if it were carved from marble.

Serenity thought, ‘I can’t even take a chisel to carve his face. It’s too tough!’

“Babe, why don’t you like cats or dogs? Regardless of whether other people’s pets are cute, our little Snowball and the two Ragdolls are adorable, yet you don’t like them either. Snowball is round and chubby, which makes him especially cute to me.”

Mrs. Lewis took great care of the three pets.

Even the two Ragdolls were well-fed and had grown to be more than twice their size since arriving at Serenity’s home.

“I don’t know why either. I just don’t like them. Back at the manor, my cousins never dared to let their pets come near me for fear I’d sell them.”

Zachary held Serenity’s hand tightly and looked at her.

He didn’t appreciate how cold and quiet their home had been back then, which often led to awkward moments between the couple. After some reflection, he decided to get her some pets to keep, but…

He did not permit the three little things to enter his room. That was the boundary he set. For her, he had already made too many exceptions. Serenity understood the meaning behind his gaze and smiled, saying, “Thanks, babe.” He wouldn’t have allowed her to have pets if he didn’t love her. In fact, Zachary had already fallen in love with her when he made the compromise to let her have pets.

Chapter 1309 “I believe Mrs. Lewis intentionally showed your sister Ms. Harmon’s picture to gauge whether your sister has any […]

[20

post-13386","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
