You must be hungry. Come on, let’s go eat. I’ll keep you company.”

Serenity countered his reasoning until he was at a loss for words, and she could see that he understood his absurdity. Consequently, she decided to shift the conversation.

If they continued to linger on the subject, the couple would only end up arguing.

“Okay.”

Zachary nodded and released his beloved wife.

Serenity gently pulled him along.

Mrs. Lane had already set Zachary’s breakfast on the table.

Though Zachary could be picky, he always yielded to Serenity.

Mrs. Lane was confident that her breakfast would not go to waste.

“Why didn’t you bring Sonny over?”

Zachary’s mood brightened when Serenity joined him for breakfast; his frown disappeared as he inquired about the little boy.

“Liberty said she would close up the store early today and let Sonny play there. She’ll take him home later. Zac-Babe, let’s invite Sonny to stay with us. It would ease things for my sister, and Sonny would be able to sleep better too.”

Zachary replied, “I’m okay with that. You know I really like Sonny.”

Sonny always woke up early with his mother, which affected his sleep quality.

Poor sleep for such a young child could hinder his growth.

“Has your sister agreed?”

“I asked both Liberty and Sonny to move in with us, but she declined. She refused before, and she continues to refuse now. That’s just who my sister is. She’s always concerned about being a burden to us. She agreed to let us take Sonny, but she won’t move in with us.”

Zachary remarked, “Liberty has always been a strong and independent woman. She was just trapped in her marriage for a few years. She won’t consider living with us.”

From the start, Liberty had consistently refused to move in with the couple.

She certainly wouldn’t start wanting to move in now.

She had also repeatedly turned down their financial assistance.

Liberty believed she still had enough money of her own. Her business was thriving, and she was making a profit, so she didn’t need her sister and brother-in-law’s financial help.

“By the way, Mr. Lewis came to Liberty’s store early for breakfast. I really don’t understand his motives. If I ask him if he likes Liberty, he denies it and claims he’s only there every day because he likes Sonny.

“But it doesn’t seem like he’s indifferent to Liberty either. He’s always very eager to help whenever my sister encounters trouble. He jumps to her aid faster than I can.”

Zachary replied, “If Duncan says he doesn’t like her, then accept that. Aren’t you concerned about him being with your sister? Mrs. Lewis is not easy to deal with.”

“I feel that Mr. Lewis isn’t a bad guy, but since you mentioned that Mrs. Lewis is difficult, I don’t want my sister to suffer at the hands of her mother-in-law again.”

Serenity felt the same way as Audrey. They both admired Duncan but did not approve of Liberty marrying him. They wanted to protect Liberty from experiencing the hardships of a challenging mother-in-law again.

Having a mother-in-law like Olivia was already challenging; a mother-in-law from a wealthy family would only complicate matters further.

Chapter 1307 “Setting aside everything we need to do, even if we retire in the future, there’s no guarantee that […]

[20

post-13384","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
