He hasn\u2019t eaten anything since he got up.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Mrs. Lane was at a loss for words regarding her boss\u2019s sudden outburst.<\/div>\n<div>She would not have known that Zachary had a childish side if she didn\u2019t work here.<\/div>\n<div>While petting the cat, Serenity said, \u201cMrs. Lane, please tell me why he\u2019s upset so I can help calm him down. I didn\u2019t do anything.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Mrs. Lane whispered, \u201cI think Mr. Zachary is upset because you went out early this morning. He probably hoped you would spend time with him since he\u2019s home for the weekend.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Serenity replied, \u201cI went to help my sister at her diner\u2026 Even though it\u2019s the weekend, many factories are still open. The workers had to go to work. My sister\u2019s breakfast place was going to be busy, so I left early to assist her. But I came back early\u2014I was home before ten o\u2019clock.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>It didn\u2019t occur to her that Zachary would sulk over something so trivial.<\/div>\n<div>Mrs. Lane was speechless.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cI\u2019ll go in and try to cheer him up.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Knowing her man\u2019s temperament, Serenity helplessly carried the cat into the room.<\/div>\n<div>It crossed Mrs. Lane\u2019s mind to stop Serenity from bringing the cat inside, but it was too late. <\/div>\n<div>Mrs. Lane feared it might only worsen Mr. Zachary\u2019s mood.<\/div>\n<div>Serenity stepped into the bedroom with the cat in her arms.<\/div>\n<div>Zachary stood by the window, his back turned to the bedroom door.<\/div>\n<div>He didn\u2019t turn around when the door opened.<\/div>\n<div>Serenity approached and stood beside him, admiring the view outside the window. She asked, \u201cWhat are you looking at?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Tilting his head, Zachary shifted his gaze to<\/p>\n<p>her, only to discover that she was holding a cat. He furrowed his brows and sharply turned, striding away from the window. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBabe,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Serenity followed closely behind him. \u201cYou were still sleeping when I got up. I thought it best to let you rest since you\u2019re always busy with work. That\u2019s why I didn\u2019t wake you. I didn\u2019t go anywhere; I just helped my sister.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought you might wake up by now, so I hurried home. It\u2019s still hectic at my sister\u2019s diner, and I didn\u2019t want you to wake up alone. I rushed back.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As she explained, Serenity didn\u2019t pause in her steps. <\/p>\n<p>Zachary stopped, turned, and locked eyes with her. \u201cDo you love me, Serenity?\u201d he asked. <\/p>\n<p>It had been a while since he had addressed her by her full name; he usually called her \u201cSeren.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Serenity sighed internally. \u2018Please don\u2019t tell me he\u2019s upset about this.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, she didn\u2019t hesitate in her response. \u201cI do. I love you, Zachary. I love you.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Her quick reply softened the tense lines of his face, but he maintained a serious expression as he said in a pained voice, \u201cDo you really love me? Why can\u2019t you remember that I hate furry animals if you love me? You even brought it into my room.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Serenity was left speechless. <\/p>\n<p>She lowered her gaze and exclaimed, \u201cOh!\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Embarrassed, she added, \u201cI\u2019m sorry, Zachary. I forgot I had the cat in my arms. I\u2019ll take it out right away. Don\u2019t worry; I\u2019ve been holding it this whole time, so the fur is only on me. I promise there won\u2019t be any fur in your room.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>She quickly carried the ragdoll cat out of the room. <\/p>\n<p>Despite the cat\u2019s beauty and cuteness, Zachary couldn\u2019t bring himself to warm up to the furry creature. He even questioned\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Her love was put into question because she brought the cat into the bedroom. <\/p>\n<p>Sigh. <\/p>\n<p>After taking the ragdoll out, Serenity placed the cat on the ground, stood up, and said to Mrs. Lane, \u201cWhy didn\u2019t you warn me that I was still holding the cat, Mrs. Lane? Your boss can be so uptight.
