Fortunately, the menu items had already been prepped, allowing the staff to serve customers without needing the boss in the kitchen.

Liberty returned to her seat to continue her breakfast.

“Duncan.”

The voice interrupted Duncan’s meal, causing him to lose his appetite.

Both Liberty and Serenity turned to see a beautiful woman enter through the glass door. Serenity did not recognize Lily, but Liberty had seen a photo of her before. Liberty noted that Lily looked even more attractive in person than in the picture.

Lily appeared to be a great match for Duncan.

“Ms. Harmon, would you like something to eat?”

Liberty set down her utensils and stood to serve the customer.

Lily shifted her gaze from Duncan to Liberty. She had observed Liberty from a distance on several occasions, but this was the first time they had met face to face. Lily thought Liberty was quite a stunning woman.

“I’ve heard the food here is fantastic. May I have what Duncan ordered? Thank you.”

Lily then confidently approached Duncan’s table, setting aside her limited-edition handbag. She took out some tissues to wipe the chair before sitting down.

As Serenity watched, Lily greeted her with a smile, saying, “Good morning, Mrs. York.”

“Morning,” Serenity replied.

Although Serenity was unaware of the woman’s identity, it was clear that Lily recognized her. Serenity felt compelled to respond to the friendly greeting.

Her sister had referred to the beautiful woman as Ms. Harmon. When had Liberty met her?

Serenity had attended numerous social events with Mrs. Stone and had met many wives of

wealthy circles, mingling with both affluent men and heiresses. Through her social interactions, Serenity honed her ability to recognize highborn individuals, and Lily’s poise and grace immediately stood out to her.

“Mrs. York, my name is Lily, Lily Harmon,” Lily introduced herself.

“Hello, Ms. Harmon,” Serenity replied, smiling and choosing to leave the conversation there.

Lily had longed to befriend Serenity, but they had not yet formed a close relationship. This moment felt appropriate for a brief introduction, ensuring Serenity would remember her name. She knew there would be ample opportunities to cultivate their friendship in the future.

Duncan inquired, “What brings you here?”

It was only seven o’clock; was Lily there to spy on him? Duncan had not yet returned home and was still an unwelcome guest at Zachary’s villa. There was no way Lily could have tracked him down unless she had been waiting nearby, aware that he would have his usual breakfast at Liberty’s diner.

He guessed correctly. However, it wasn’t Lily who had been keeping an eye on him; it was his mother. Mrs. Lewis had stationed people around the vicinity, ensuring she was the first to know when her associates spotted Duncan from afar. She then dispatched Lily to approach him.

Lily was disciplined, rising early each day to run and exercise. Mrs. Lewis had also arranged for her to stay in one of Duncan’s properties, conveniently located near Lewis & Co., making it easy for her to arrive quickly.

“I’m here because you’re here,” Lily responded matter-of-factly, tilting her head slightly as she looked at Duncan.

Duncan remarked, “As long as you’re okay with it.”

“What else can I say when your stomach can handle the food? Did you forget that I started from the bottom too?” Lily remarked, recalling her journey from the very lowest tier in the

At the company, no one was aware that she was the boss’s daughter. She performed the most demanding tasks for the lowest wages, and her basic needs were no different from those of any regular employee.

Before rising through the ranks, Lily had to sneak home to avoid revealing her identity as the boss’s daughter. She often rented the cheapest apartment or shared accommodations with others to afford a better living situation.

Duncan responded, “Oh, I didn’t know that. Maybe my mom mentioned it, but I didn’t pay much attention.”

He had known Lily since they were younger, but he never considered her part of his friend group. Duncan wouldn’t have realized that she was the daughter of his mother’s best friend had he not run into her during her trip to Wiltspoon.

Chapter 1302 Duncan and Serenity found it difficult to engage in conversation due to their lack of common interests.
