By now, most of the housemaids recognized him and treated him with great respect, inviting him into the house each time he came by.

This was the first instance where they did not invite him inside immediately. He suspected that some sort of emergency was occurring and decided not to pry, especially as an outsider.

If they weren’t willing to share, he wouldn’t ask.

After all, he was merely a neighbor.

“Mr. Johnson, may I offer you a glass of water?”

Even though they hadn’t let him into the house yet, they still ensured he felt welcomed.

Remy expressed his gratitude with a warm smile.

The servant exited the gazebo and hurried into the house.

Inside, Clive’s parents were gathered on the couch. Mr. Stone was doing his best to soothe his wife’s anxiety. “Clive is acting out of love for Alice, please don’t hold this against him. The boy isn’t thinking clearly right now.”

Serenity poured a glass of water for Mrs. Stone.

Meanwhile, Liberty and Elisa had Alice seated with them on the couch, remaining vigilant to prevent Clive from taking her away.

Clive was irritably ruffling his hair. Did he not want the child? Of course he did. He yearned to have a child with Alice, but her difficult pregnancy and severe condition were driving him to the brink of frustration. She was unable to keep down any food and had lost a considerable amount of weight since the pregnancy began. It was an incredibly stressful experience for him as well.

In his eyes, his wife’s well-being took precedence over the unborn child.

Sonny approached Clive, gazing curiously at his uncle. Something sparkled in the little boy’s eyes like stars in the night sky.

“Uncle!” Sonny greeted Clive warmly.

Clive looked down at Sonny. The boy was remarkably healthy, his skin radiating a bright red tint. Despite his young age, he already seemed destined to grow into a handsome young man. He was adorable, resembling a life-sized doll that had stepped out of a storybook.

Whenever people encountered him, they felt an overwhelming urge to hug him tightly and shower him with affection. Clive was no exception to Sonny’s charms.

He lifted Sonny into his arms.

“Uncle, are you feeling sad? Is everything okay?”

Sonny was very sensitive and could sense Clive’s restless mood. He wrapped his arms around Clive’s neck and planted a gentle kiss on his cheek to comfort him. “Mom kisses me whenever I’m feeling sad. It makes me feel better.”

“Do you feel better now?”

Clive was completely taken by Sonny’s innocent display of affection and smiled. He rubbed his cheek against Sonny’s and said lovingly, “Uncle feels better for now.”

Chapter 1273 “Mr. Johnson, please wait at the gazebo for now.” The servant guided Remy to the gazebo and sincerely […]

[20

post-13350","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
