She was determined to persevere through any challenges that lay ahead. If she didn’t, Liberty would see her as a fool, claiming it was karma!

“Stop tossing and turning in bed and get some sleep. Lucas isn’t your son. My sister might not even behave like you do. You’re just his aunt, yet you’re so anxious that you can’t sleep,” Hank said, wrapping his arms around Jessica as he yawned. “I’m so sleepy,” he added, closing his eyes.

Internally, Jasmine cursed. Her agitation wasn’t actually due to Lucas. In her eyes, he was a spoiled brat who had ruined much of her skincare and makeup, which made her dislike him intensely. While she felt flustered seeing Lucas being taken away, she wasn’t worried at all. In fact, she felt somewhat pleased.

Serenity and her sister were simply kind-hearted and generous enough to send help for Lucas. Jessica thought that if it were up to her, she wouldn’t have saved him at all. In her opinion, it would be best if he were abducted; that way, Chelsea would no longer be able to act so arrogantly.

Hank quickly drifted back to sleep. Jessica felt unable to express her true feelings, so she remained silent, holding everything in. After finally falling asleep, she was plagued by nightmares. She dreamt of Sonny being harmed after being kidnapped by malicious individuals, with his legs crippled and left to beg on the streets. Then, she dreamt that her entire family had perished, their bodies lined up in a row…

As spring rain poured down, the sound of rumbling thunder jolted Serenity awake. Zachary stirred as well.

“Babe, get some more sleep. You came home late last night. I’ll make breakfast and wake you up when it’s ready,” he said.

Serenity walked to the window, drawing the curtains to look outside.

It was still raining, so she closed the curtains once more. Turning to Zachary, she said, “The rain hasn’t stopped, so your morning run is off. Go back to sleep.”

Coming home late and waking up early was indeed exhausting.

Zachary lay back down on the bed and pulled the blanket over himself. It was unusual for him to lounge in bed like this.

Noticing that he had drifted back to sleep, Serenity headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

Grandma May was already awake, practicing yoga on the balcony.

“Good morning, Nana,” Serenity greeted.

“Good morning,” Grandma May replied.

“Nana, it’s raining outside. Will the rain get inside?”

Serenity stepped outside to check. The spring rain had persisted for a while, but it wasn’t too heavy.

The balcony was slightly damp, but it didn’t hinder Grandma May from continuing her yoga.

“It doesn’t bother me,” she assured, not pausing her routine.

Serenity smiled. “Nana, keep going with your yoga. I’ll take care of breakfast. What would you like today?”

“I’ll eat whatever you prepare, as long as it’s easy to chew. I’m old and can’t chew well,” Grandma May replied.

Serenity hummed in acknowledgment and went into the kitchen.

About an hour later, the three of them sat down for breakfast at the dining table. Grandma May remarked to Zachary, “I feel like your and Serenity’s house is too quiet.”

“I’ll ask Mrs. Lane to bring Snowball and the others back later. Your home will be livelier then,” Zachary replied.

The three pets that Zachary had gifted to Serenity were still being cared for at the hilltop villa, with Mrs. Lane looking after them most of the time.

Serenity smiled and said, “I almost forgot about those three little ones.”

Grandma May mumbled, “I’d love to have a little girl as a pet.”

The young couple pretended not to hear her.

Chapter 1189 Jasmine put in a great deal of effort to win Hank away from Liberty and become his partner.
