Look at the time now. Are you still not coming back?”

Mrs. Lewis urged her son, “Please hurry home. Lily prepared some of her best dishes for you. I sampled them, and they’re delicious—on par with a five-star hotel chef’s creations.”

“Mom, I’m not coming back for dinner. I still have things to finish up. You and Ms. Harmon can enjoy the meal together. Remember, Mr. Harmon is a guest in our home, so don’t make her cook. That would be poor hospitality.”

Mrs. Lewis frowned. “You still have work to do? Even so, you need to eat. It’s dark now, so come home for dinner first. You can continue working afterward.”

“Mom, I’ve already eaten. I had dinner outside.”

Mrs. Lewis replied, “But Lily made so much food…”

“You’re lucky to enjoy such delicious meals.”

Mrs. Lewis was taken aback. She was almost frustrated with her son.

Despite her efforts to create opportunities for him, he either evaded them or made excuses to decline.

Lily was exceptional, and she and Duncan had known each other for a long time. If the two got along well, sparks were bound to fly.

“Duncan, I really like Lily.”

“Then let her stay a few more days to keep you company.”

“Lily has work too. She’ll need to go home soon.”

Duncan smiled and suggested, “That’s simple. You can go with her and meet her mom. Think of it as a trip for you to relax and reconnect with an old friend. How about that? I can arrange a private jet for you.”

“You should ask Dad to join you too. You’re both retired and have no work pressure, so you can travel as long as you like. It’s okay if you don’t come back until next year.”

Mrs. Lewis was…

Mrs. Lewis was so furious that she hung up the phone. “That bastard isn’t interested in Lily at all!” she exclaimed, tossing her phone onto the coffee table. “That brat is far too arrogant. He doesn’t appreciate Lily, despite her being so remarkable. Is he planning to remain unmarried for the rest of his life?”

Mr. Lewis replied, “I told you to stop worrying about him and let things unfold naturally. He’s not a child anymore; he has his own opinions.”

“I wouldn’t be concerned if he were only three years old. Do you really think our youngest son is still young? He’s thirty-six, and he’ll be turning thirty-seven in just a few months. How close is that to forty? Other people are already grandfathers by forty, yet your son remains unmarried as he nears that age. How can I not worry? He’s the oldest bachelor in our circle.”

Mr. Lewis instinctively countered, “Julian is also an old bachelor.”

Mrs. Lewis shot her husband an annoyed look. “Julian is just a few years younger than your son! Your son is thirty-seven, while Julian is only thirty-four or thirty-five.” She thought Julian was around that age.

Mrs. Lewis didn’t care about the ages of other people’s sons; she only noted that Julian and her youngest son were close in age. “Duncan is only thirty-six.”

“His birthday is coming up soon; he’ll be thirty-seven then,” she replied.

Mr. Lewis interjected, “His birthday isn’t coming up soon…”

Relationship matters cannot be forced. Their youngest son was naive and straightforward, struggling to understand women and being particularly slow when it came to romantic relationships. Even someone as slow as Zachary had managed to find clarity, but Duncan had always lagged behind.

Mr. Lewis felt that

Duncan would only have a chance to leave the dating scene if he found a girlfriend who could inspire him to change.
“Derek, why don’t we throw a party and invite all the eligible young ladies in Wiltspoon? Duncan can meet them and see if he can find the right one.”
“There are only a few ladies in Wiltspoon that you like, and Duncan knows all of them. If he was interested, he would have pursued them already. Why should we host a party for a blind date?”
Mrs. Lewis pouted.
She had high standards for her future daughter-in-law.

Chapter 1183 “You promised to be home for dinner tonight.
