He didn’t mention to Liberty that he had breakfast at a friend’s house, and it had left him wanting more.

The affectionate couple had dampened his appetite, but now that they were out of sight, his hunger had caught up to him. As a result, Duncan decided to stop by Liberty’s diner to satisfy his cravings.

Noticing Duncan was showing her son the ropes in the middle of breakfast, Liberty approached, sat next to her son, and said, “I’ll help you, Sonny.”

She glanced at the assembly instructions and stared at the pile of Lego bricks, feeling a headache creeping in.

Oops. It appeared that Lego bricks weren’t really her thing.

However, Serenity was quite skilled at it. She had a talent for crafting, so Lego bricks posed no challenge for her.

As a customer entered the diner, Liberty set down the assembly instructions and told her son, “Take your time, Sonny. I’ll be right with you.”

“Mom, you don’t know how to do it, but Dunc does,” Sonny replied.

Sonny had formed a bond with Duncan while they assembled Lego bricks together, as Duncan had a talent for it.

“Would you like to come over to my place later? You can assemble the bricks there, and I can help you if you get stuck.”

Sonny considered the offer before asking, “Will my mom come too?”

“Your mom is busy, so she can’t join us.”

Sonny shook his head. “I won’t go if Mom doesn’t come.”

Gently running his fingers through the boy’s hair, Duncan said to Liberty, “Sonny is being cautious.”

Liberty smiled.

A little while later, Duncan finally satisfied his hunger. Though he was tempted to stay and help Sonny build a robot, his schedule was full.

He instructed his secretary to move his appointments to the afternoon so he could spend some time at Liberty’s diner in the

“Liberty, I sent the money through Apple Pay,” he said.

Rising to his feet, Duncan addressed both Liberty and Sonny, “I need to head to work now, Sonny. We can continue this conversation when I get off.”

“Bye, Dunc,” Sonny replied.

Sonny was much nicer now that he had received Lego from Duncan. At least he was saying goodbye unprompted.

Duncan gently pinched Sonny’s little face. The boy was adorable; he almost wished he could nibble on his cheek.

After a brief chat with Liberty, Duncan made his way outside.

As he walked to his car, the person in the vehicle parked next to his rolled down the window and greeted him with a smile.

“Duncan,” she said.

It was Lily, and her presence dampened Duncan’s mood.

He approached her with furrowed brows and asked, “What brings you here, Ms. Harmon?”

“I made you breakfast, but you didn’t come home last night, so I went to your office. I thought I was imagining things when I saw your car parked here,” she explained, being direct about her reason for visiting.

Fixing her gaze on the breakfast place Duncan had just exited, she inquired, “Duncan, is the food good there? Is the hygiene at that diner acceptable?”

Lily was not someone who typically dined at small businesses, and she was concerned about cleanliness.

However, she recognized that Duncan was unpretentious and laid-back, as he had mingled with alternative crowds before. He was perfectly happy to eat from a food truck, let alone a diner.

“The hygiene is definitely up to standard, and there’s a health permit to prove it,” Duncan assured her, choosing not to mention that Liberty owned All You Can Eat.

Chapter 1164 “I stayed up late today,” Duncan lied.
