Halfway out, a thought struck him, prompting him to turn back. He unlocked the car and retrieved one of several boxes from the backseat.

It was a box of Legos.

Duncan was fond of Sonny, so he purchased various toys and kept them in his car. This way, he could always bring something for Sonny whenever he visited the diner. It was clear that his trips to the diner were for the boy and not for Liberty.

Previously, Duncan had given Sonny pinwheels, but the boy had outgrown them.

That was why he decided to buy new toys.

With a box of Legos in hand, Duncan entered All You Can Eat.

“Morning, Mr. Lewis.”

As Duncan walked through the door, Liberty greeted him with a smile and asked, “Same order?”

“Yes, the usual.”

Duncan felt that breakfast at his friend’s place never quite satisfied him. With a heavy workload in the morning, how could he manage on an empty stomach?

It was best if he had another meal at Liberty’s establishment.

“Sonny.”

Noticing Sonny drawing behind the cash register, Duncan approached and handed the box of Legos to him, saying, “Sonny, this is my gift for you today.”

Sonny had become accustomed to receiving gifts from Duncan.

He accepted the Legos and thanked Duncan.

“Go ahead and open it. I can help you build with the Legos.”

Sonny opened the box and spilled out the bricks. It was a set for building a robot, which was quite complex for his age.

However, Sonny was passionate about Legos.

Given a box of Legos, he could spend all day engrossed in his creations.

Duncan had

Duncan had his reasons for giving Sonny a build that wasn’t quite age-appropriate. He could jump in and help Sonny, as the boy was too young to complete the build on his own. This offered a great opportunity for bonding while playing with bricks. By that time, Sonny would start to warm up to Duncan, and at least Duncan could finally receive some hugs.

“Mr. Lewis, Sonny has plenty of toys. Please stop buying him more,” Liberty said, exasperated after noticing Duncan had given Sonny yet another toy. “He has enough toys to open a toy shop.” She glanced at the Lego set as she walked by, heading to serve a customer.

“The set is too difficult for Sonny right now,” she remarked.

“It’s fine. He can take his time. I can help him when I’m free,” Duncan replied, taking a seat behind the cash register to assist Sonny.

Once Liberty finished preparing breakfast, Duncan began eating while guiding Sonny in assembling the bricks.

“How’s business?” Duncan inquired.

Now that the morning rush had subsided, Liberty took a moment to breathe and responded with a smile, “You can see how busy we are when you pass by every morning. The morning rush really keeps us on our toes. We only have time to tidy up and rest once the night shift crowd has cleared out.”

Those on the graveyard shift usually finished their meals around nine o’clock in the morning. Liberty and her two employees would start tidying up and cleaning around ten o’clock. By the time they completed their tasks, it was almost lunchtime, and Liberty had been busy all morning.

“You arrived later than usual today,” she noted, as Duncan typically showed up at the diner just after seven o’clock.

Chapter 1163 Duncan was driving past All You Can Eat at eight o’clock when he decided to stop the car.
