She mentioned that even if meeting the specialist wasn’t possible, it would still be beneficial for the specialist’s apprentice to examine Camryn’s condition.

The apprentice represented Camryn’s last hope.

After an extended treatment period, Camryn could see faintly. However, her vision remained so unclear that she felt no different from a blind person. Despite this, she was filled with joy and hope for the possibility of regaining her sight.

Still, she chose not to share this newfound hope with anyone except her aunt.

At present, she felt as if she were completely blind, unable to see anything.

“Ms. Newman, how can you tell there are other people in my store if you’re visually impaired?” a store owner asked.

Camryn laughed and responded, “When I entered your store, I heard their footsteps. The steady footsteps belong to the men I assume are your bodyguards.”

Serenity and Jasmine exchanged knowing glances.

It was often said that the blind had heightened hearing, and this proved to be true.

Serenity called over the two bodyguards and instructed them to follow Camryn’s lead. Concerned that the bodyguards might be too rough with her and inadvertently cause harm, she cautioned, “Take it easy on Ms. Newman. Make it seem rough, but don’t actually hurt her.”

Despite Camryn’s visual impairment, men naturally felt inclined to care for and sympathize with a petite woman like her, who had a delicate appearance.

Serenity wished she could look after Camryn on behalf of her brother-in-law.

“Miss, we’ll be mindful of our strength,” the two bodyguards assured her.

The bodyguards then forcibly removed Camryn from the bookstore, along with the gifts she had brought.

Soon after, they brought her to the front of the car and unceremoniously threw her onto the floor.

and threw the gifts at her. One of the bodyguards said coldly, “Get lost!”

Another bodyguard, who was more talkative, stated frostily, “The missus treats you well. If it weren’t for you, her car wouldn’t have crashed. Yet, you dare to ask the missus to show mercy? How ungrateful! Get lost!”

The bodyguards then turned and walked away.

Mrs. Newman emerged from the car only after the bodyguards had left. She approached Camryn but did not help her up.

“Did you manage to resolve it?”

Sitting on the floor, Camryn groped around for her white cane, but Mrs. Newman kicked it out of reach.

“You can’t even handle such a minor issue, you useless thing!”

“Mrs. York’s car crashed. If she hadn’t learned self-defense, she would have been hospitalized. She’s so angry that she refuses to forgive Carrie. I pleaded with her, but we’re merely acquaintances, not close friends.”

“Why would she show me any respect? Even though I followed your instructions, it didn’t change anything. She’s determined to press charges against Carrie.”

After expressing her exasperation at Camryn’s ineptitude, Mrs. Newman turned and got into the car, ordering the bodyguards, “Let’s go home.”

“Mom…”

“Don’t call me Mom! I wish I had never given birth to you. You’re a troublemaker, making life difficult for Carrie and me. Carrie is suffering because of you. Camryn, I’ll make things hard for you since my daughter is struggling.”

With that, Mrs. Newman instructed the chauffeur to drive away.

She left.

Camryn had been hurt by her biological mother so many times that she had become numb to it. She listened to Mrs. Newman’s words, but they no longer caused her pain.

From her mother, Camryn learned that not all mothers

They cherished their children.

Camryn’s aunt learned about a specialist in Annenburg and considered asking them to treat Camryn’s eyes.
