If the Newmans offered her a new car as compensation for her damaged vehicle, she would accept it, but only if it was of the same brand.

Serenity had purchased her car in the fall of the previous year and had driven it for less than six months. Camryn quietly tucked the card into her pocket. Serenity paused for a moment before asking Camryn in a more relaxed tone, “Ms. Newman, if I insist on pressing charges against Carrie, do you think you can manage living in the Newmans’ house?”

“I’ll have a tough time, but that’s how I’ve always lived there. Regardless of whether you press charges against Carrie, their treatment of me won’t change,” Camryn replied calmly. “Mrs. York, you are free to do as you wish. You don’t need to consider my feelings. After all, the incident began because of me. You acted against Carrie merely to help me. It was Carrie’s fault for hiring people to damage the car and inflict injuries; she deserves to face consequences. If I plead for her mercy, I’ll owe you.”

“Besides my aunt, it has been a decade since anyone has helped me like this,” she added. Camryn would prefer to confront Mrs. Newman rather than beg Serenity not to charge Carrie.

Her last sentence struck Serenity deeply. Camryn may have come from a wealthy family, but her biological father had passed away early, and her biological mother had treated her poorly, more like a cruel stepmother than a parent.

After shaking Camryn’s hand, Serenity said, “Ms. Newman, I feel we could really connect. I would like to be your friend. If you ever need help in the future, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll…”

“I will do my best to assist you. If I’m unable to help, I’ll find someone who can.”

Callum managed to remain calm, not moving a muscle for an extended period.

If Serenity were a man, she would have embraced Camryn and protected her from any bullying.

“Thank you, Mrs. York.”

Camryn did not plead or beg Serenity to forgive Carrie, as Mrs. Newman had hoped.

Carrie showed no signs of remorse whatsoever. Even if Serenity chose not to press charges against her, Carrie would likely seek revenge against Serenity once she was released from the detention center.

Serenity considered her family’s safety and realized that letting Carrie off the hook would invite trouble for herself. Carrie was now aware that Serenity had learned self-defense and had bodyguards to protect her. This knowledge might deter Carrie from acting against Serenity.

But what about Serenity’s sister and Sonny?

Carrie was young, energetic, and reckless. Facing legal consequences was, in fact, the best way for her to learn a lesson. Only by going to jail would she understand that the rule of law applies to everyone, regardless of their status or wealth.

She must not believe she could act however she pleased simply because she was a wealthy young lady with influential parents.

All are equal before the law!

“Mrs. York, please continue with your work. I won’t disturb you any longer.”

Camryn touched her white cane and stood up.

“Let me arrange for someone to take you back to your florist.”

Since Camryn was visually impaired, Serenity would not allow her to leave alone.

“She’s still waiting for my update at the intersection. I need to inform her. You can have two people escort me to her car and tell me to leave.”

“Fiercely, if that works for you,” she replied. Serenity felt a bit bewildered. How could Camryn be aware of the other customers in her store? She reached out and waved her hand in front of Camryn. “Mrs. York, there’s no need to test me. Right now, I’m truly unable to see.”

Serenity had reported the issue to the police, choosing to let them handle it instead of seeking compensation privately from […]

[20

post-13124","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
