Though she felt disappointed that Sonny was not present, she kept her expression neutral.

It was the first day for the two servers, and they were unaware of Liberty’s relationship with Hank. One of them approached the couple with a smile, inquiring about their meal preferences.

Hank led Jessica to an empty table to sit down.

“Jessica, wifey, what would you like to eat?”

Before they left, Jessica had insisted that Hank refer to her as “wifey” in Liberty’s presence.

Even though Liberty had no feelings for Hank, Jessica couldn’t help but view her as a rival for his affection.

This likely stemmed from the fact that Jessica had taken Hank from Liberty, making her feel insecure about the possibility of losing him to someone else.

“I’ll have whatever you’re having,” she replied.

Hank ordered for both of them, “Two breakfast sets.”

The waitress noted their order and informed them to wait while she prepared their meals.

Most of the food was prepped in advance, with the main dishes cooked to order.

“Why don’t I see Sonny?” Jessica asked casually.

Hank had no answer to her question; Sonny should have been in the diner.

Could Serenity have taken him?

“I’ll ask Liberty.”

Since Jessica had agreed to let the Browns visit Sonny and even allowed him to have brief stays at their home, Hank felt he could finally discuss his son with Jessica.

He stood up and approached Liberty, who was busy in the kitchen. He called out to her through the window separating the dining area from the kitchen, “Where’s my son, Liberty?”

Liberty glanced at him briefly before returning to her work.

After a moment, she responded faintly.

By that point, Hank was on the verge of throwing a fit from the wait. “Sonny’s asleep,” he said.

“Asleep? Where?”

Liberty kept her thoughts to herself.

Hank continued, “Your business is doing well, and you’re busy. It’s not safe to have Sonny here. What if he runs outside, and you don’t notice? Someone could kidnap him. What would you do then?”

“My son is adorable and fits the profile of what these kidnappers target. I plan to take Sonny with me to my parents’ house so they can care for him for a while.”

Liberty cast a brief glance at Jessica, who was helping herself to breakfast.

Understanding the situation, Hank lowered his voice, “Jessica is on board with this. She’s excited to have a child around. It will bring some life to the house, and it might lessen the constant fighting between my parents and Jessica.”

Liberty wanted to refuse. However, she had to consider the terms of the divorce. Ultimately, Hank was Sonny’s father. She responded, “You can take him if he agrees, but you can’t force him if he’s not interested.”

She left the decision up to her son.

Sonny was eager to spend time with his father, but he didn’t want to live where his mother couldn’t see him.

“Of course he’s interested. This is his home too. I am his father, and my parents are his grandparents. They’re used to looking after children and are bored now that they have no little ones to care for. They’ve been urging me to take care of Sonny.”

“Don’t worry. You have custody of Sonny, and I won’t contest it. I’m just trying to lighten the load. It’s all about Sonny’s safety.”

Hank then added, “Where is Sonny sleeping? I’ll take him home after breakfast. I don’t care about your plans to start a business or open a restaurant, but it hurts me to see my son…”

“Rising early because of you.”

Chapter 1125 The moment Jessica entered the diner, she began to survey her surroundings.
