He arrived with gifts to apologize again, but I refused to meet with him. I told Callum to handle it.”

Since Callum would need to engage with the Newmans soon, this would be good practice for him.

Poor Callum.

“I wouldn’t be so forgiving toward Carrie, even if Mrs. Newman approached me. Being kind to the enemy would only be cruel to myself.

“The feud between Carrie and me is beyond reconciliation.”

Serenity also supported Camryn, and Carrie had targeted Camryn. Their differing stances clearly placed them on opposite sides.

“There’s no need to make amends with her. She’s spoiled and believes she should always get her way. Even if you forgive her, she’ll hold a grudge and look for revenge whenever possible. There’s no point in resolving things with someone who doesn’t see their own faults.”

Zachary revealed his domineering nature. “Don’t worry about it, Seren. I’m here for you. I won’t let my wife be mistreated. There’s no need for you to be scared or to grovel to anyone!”

Serenity replied with a smile, “Even if I’m not your wife, I have my principles. Why should I back down when I’ve done nothing wrong? If she can treat me this way, she can do it to anyone. I’ll let the law take care of her. While it may not change her attitude, it could serve as a lesson to stop her from endangering others.”

With a serious expression, Serenity added, “I just hope you don’t think I’m overstepping my bounds and causing you trouble.”

Zachary playfully nibbled on her cheek. “I don’t think so. I’m happy to support you and take away your worries.”

“Problems for a lifetime.”

“You speak as if I frequently find myself in trouble.”

Zachary chuckled.

“I need to discuss something with you. My grandparents have been spreading rumors in my hometown, claiming that my dad isn’t their biological son. They say they found him somewhere and raised him. They believe my dad should be grateful for their upbringing, but since he died before he could repay them, they feel entitled to his inheritance.”

Zachary asked, “Do you need assistance in investigating whether your father is really their biological son?”

“I have no doubt that my dad is their son. He bears an uncanny resemblance to my granddad, and the only explanation for that is their blood relationship.”

Serenity has never questioned that her father was a Hunt.

“I would believe them if they forced me to take a DNA test to prove we aren’t related. Otherwise, it’s all just a ruse.”

Zachary paused for a moment before saying, “You can never be completely sure about these things. Some people may look alike even if they aren’t biologically related. Did you read the news? There’s a child who resembles a wealthy man, but they aren’t related at all.”

“Your father might look like Old Mr. Hunt, but they may not share a biological connection. No parents would be as emotionally detached from their child as your grandparents were from your father and mother. It’s possible they found and raised your father.”

Serenity responded, “The townspeople would know if that were true. Many from the older generation are still alive. My sister and I have never heard anything suggesting that my dad isn’t their biological son.”

Zachary pursed his lips and said, “You might not know that Ben’s wife, Jane, was adopted by the Murphy family. The Murphies had a daughter and had intended to name her after their family, but their daughter fell ill and passed away. They found Ben’s wife after their daughter died.”

“They brought her home to replace their daughter. Since both girls were the same age, the townspeople had no idea about the switch. They always believed that Ben’s wife was the Murphies’ biological daughter.”

Serenity asked, “Do you think this is the same situation with my dad?”

Zachary replied, “Yes. It wouldn’t hurt to investigate. They must be very biased parents if your dad turns out to be their biological son. If he isn’t, it would explain their behavior.”

“Why not just ask Noah to come here? I can take a DNA test with him. The results should reveal something since we share the same grandfather.”

Poor Noah—he was always the first person who came to Serenity’s mind.

Chapter 1120 Mrs. Newman would have everything organized if they were dealing with an ordinary individual.
