I can have the driver take us to Brynfield instead,” he offered.

After a moment, he added quietly, “Nana is still in Brynfield.”

Serenity responded, “We can go to the villa on the hilltop. There’s no need to change our plans.”

Zachary probably feared that his more intimate moments might disturb Grandma May in Brynfield.

Serenity didn’t want to inconvenience the elderly lady either.

While the events at the estate hadn’t left her with lasting trauma, entering the villa would inevitably remind her of the past.

It was a relief that all of that was behind them.

She needed to confront her fears.

Now that the incident was in the past, Serenity could understand Zachary’s madness and paranoia from that time.

“Okay,” she finally said.

Seeing her willingness to return to the villa, Zachary exhaled in relief.

He felt more at home in the estate, where he had lived for several years, while his time in Brynfield had only lasted a few months.

“Did Mrs. Newman reach out to you?” Zachary asked.

Mr. Newman hurried back to Wiltspoon after hearing that Carrie was detained. He was nearly overcome with anger when he learned the entire situation from his wife. He couldn’t believe his daughter would devise such a plan. If Carrie intended to confront Serenity, it had to be a foolproof scheme. At the very least, she needed to ensure that the evidence couldn’t be traced back to her before making her move.

The stunt Carrie attempted was, to put it mildly, poorly conceived. She even made personal contact with the thugs involved. Mrs. Newman recognized her daughter’s recklessness, but she only discovered it after the fact; it was too late to intervene.

It had never occurred to Mrs. Newman that Serenity could defend herself. The thugs hadn’t even left a mark on her. Moreover, Zachary had discreetly hired bodyguards to protect Serenity. Had Mrs. Newman known her daughter would act impulsively, she would have intervened.

It was what it was. Additionally, Serenity had evidence. Despite Mrs. Newman’s heartache and desperation to save her daughter, there was nothing she could do.

Chapter 1119 “Where are we going?” The couple enjoyed a brief romantic moment until Serenity noticed they were not headed […]

[20

post-13096","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
