If Hank took his eyes off Sonny for even a moment, the little boy would wander off, causing Hank to panic as he feared he had lost him.

Since that incident, Hank was hesitant to take his son out again.

In fact, their first trip to the park was prompted by Hank running out of excuses to avoid going.

Sonny innocently asked, “Oh. Do you need to work?”

Hank replied with a lie, “Yeah. I need to work and make money.”

Unfortunately, he still hadn’t found a job.

Seeing Liberty thrive with her business inspired Hank to consider starting one with Jessica after their wedding. They could be their own bosses.

This way, they wouldn’t have to take orders from anyone else and could set their own schedules.

However, Hank wondered if Zachary would come after him if he decided to start a business.

His biggest fear was that Zachary would hold a grudge against him.

If things went horribly wrong, Hank could always become an e-hailing driver. It would be challenging, but at least it would provide him with an income.

Hank was well aware that he still held the roles of husband and father, carrying the responsibility of supporting his family on his shoulders.

“Oh.”

Sonny accepted that his father needed to work, as his mom had always explained this to him before. It wasn’t new information; the little boy understood that his father had to work every day.

When Liberty saw her ex-husband again, she was reluctant to engage with him—she didn’t have the time to spare.

Hank approached Liberty, carrying Sonny, and said, “Liberty, I haven’t had breakfast. Can you get me your…”

“Recommended breakfast set,” the sign read. Before Liberty could respond, Mrs. Lane interjected while serving other customers. “Mr. Brown, please proceed to the cash register to pay. You can pay, find a seat, and wait for your meal.”

Hank replied, “I’m Sonny’s father. Do I really need to pay? Liberty, we were once married. What’s a breakfast set going to cost you? Can’t you treat me to breakfast?”

Despite having a little savings left after renovating the marital home and providing financial support to the Yateses, Hank wanted to save wherever he could since he was currently unemployed. Additionally, he had always been frugal with Liberty. In the months leading up to their divorce, they had shared expenses.

Working efficiently behind the grill, Liberty said, “Mr. Brown, let’s not discuss our marriage. I don’t want to argue, especially with Sonny here and many customers to attend to. As Mrs. Lane mentioned, you can pay if you want to support my business. I’ll gladly make your food. Otherwise, I’ll have to call security to escort you out if you refuse to pay.”

Hank grimaced. “What’s a few bucks to you? Can’t you buy me breakfast?”

“No, I can’t do that.”

His face contorted with frustration as he turned to Sonny. “Look how petty your mom is, Sonny. She won’t even buy me breakfast and expects me to pay.”

Sonny replied bluntly, “Dunc pays when he comes for breakfast. Aunt Elisa pays too, so you should pay.”

The only relatives Mom refused to charge were Aunt Ser and Uncle Zack; everyone else was expected to settle their own bills.

Chapter 1099 Sonny was generally well-behaved, but he was still under three years old, which meant he had a playful […]

[20

post-13076","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
