I was genuinely worried that you might be too timid, taking on all the household chores and ending up living like Liberty did in the past.”

Serenity paused briefly before responding, “I’ve learned from my sister’s experience. I refuse to live a life like hers.”

“It’s wise to remain vigilant at all times. I’ve witnessed many lose themselves when they fall in love.”

Just as Elisa finished speaking, her phone rang. It was her only friend from before she met Serenity. She picked up and said, “Seren, my best friend just broke up. I’m heading out to see her.”

“Okay. Drive safely.”

“I’ll arrange for someone to go to your hometown tomorrow to discuss contracting the fields with the village chief. I’ll also look into what your relatives have been up to lately.”

“Sounds good.”

Jasmine and Serenity decided to let Elisa take the lead on the investment project. Given her background and the more privileged environment she grew up in, she was best suited to guide them.

“I’ll invite my best friend out for coffee with you two another day so you can all get acquainted. She’s feeling down after her breakup and could use some cheerful friends like you and Jasmine.”

Elisa’s best friend also came from a wealthy family, but she preferred to stay low-profile, so few knew her identity. Elisa believed her friend would undoubtedly bond well with Serenity and the others.

“Of course. Go be with your bestie. Breakups aren’t the end of the world. There are plenty of good men out there.”

“She’s been dating her boyfriend for several…

years of knowing each other and was already discussing marriage. It’s natural for her to feel sad after the breakup. I need to go now, Seren. I have to see Cece.”

Elisa was concerned about her best friend and quickly exited the bookstore.

After preparing a loving dinner for Zachary, Serenity packed it into an insulated lunch box and told Jasmine, “I’ll take this food to him and return to watch the shop. It’s not after work hours yet, so your boyfriend shouldn’t be here.”

“No problem. Go ahead; I’ll watch the store,” Jasmine readily agreed.

A few minutes later, Serenity drove away from Wiltspoon School. With no time to buy additional gifts, she decided to simply pick up a bouquet of flowers for Zachary. She recalled the flower shop owned by Camryn.

The shop was located downtown, and she could easily reach it with a slight detour.

So, that’s what she did.

After driving for less than ten minutes, she arrived downtown and slowed down to locate Spring Blossoms. It was easy to find, as Camryn’s flower shop was right by the street.

Serenity parked her car in front of the flower store. Just as she was about to step out, someone honked at her from behind.

Since she hadn’t violated any traffic laws by parking there, she dismissed the honking and opened the car door.

The driver who honked also exited their vehicle and shouted, “Didn’t you hear me honk? I want to park there, so hurry up and move your car… Is that you?”

The person honking at Serenity was Carrie, Camryn’s half-sister, with whom she had a conflict when they first met.

“Move your car. I want to park there!” Carrie insisted, still exuding her usual arrogance.

Recognizing Serenity, she saw her as merely a country bumpkin. As her mother often said, a country bumpkin would always be just that. Serenity would never gain acceptance among the upper class. Eventually, when her novelty wore off and Mr. York grew weary of her, it would be time for her to shed tears.

Chapter 1078 “We’re relieved to hear that Zachary is taking care of you at home.
