Why did it have to be at the manor?

“And squid, lamb, and large prawns. Anyway, I enjoy whatever you grill.”

Duncan continued to talk about the food as if he hadn’t heard Zachary.

Zachary promptly hung up after that.

However, Duncan’s words did spark an idea in his mind. Tomorrow was Sunday, and they wouldn’t have to work. Besides, he had never taken Serenity to the manor before. He decided to follow Duncan’s suggestion and invite a few friends for a barbecue at the manor, which indeed had a barbecue area.

He could even bring Serenity back to stay for a few days so she could get used to the surroundings. The beautiful landscape might lift her spirits as well.

While the plan developed in his mind, Zachary texted Duncan: [Got it. Call Josh too, and ask him to bring Julian along if he’s free.]

When Duncan received Zachary’s reply, he let out a sigh of relief.

His cover had almost been blown.

Regardless, even if Zachary hadn’t caught on, Duncan would have sought him out the next day and stayed by his side all day.

Duncan readily agreed.

After finishing his text to Duncan, Zachary stepped out of the kitchen and onto the balcony. Serenity looked at him and asked, “Is dinner ready?”

“Almost. Are you hungry? The soup is ready. Why don’t you have some soup first?”

“No, I don’t have an appetite.”

The trip back to her hometown stirred emotions within her, bringing forth memories from the past. Unable to contain herself, tears streamed down her face. Even though they had left, Serenity was still overwhelmed by her memories.

Zachary knelt down to her eye level and gently touched her face. He spoke softly, “I’ll take you to Wildridge Manor tomorrow, and we can stay there for a few days. The scenery is breathtaking, and the beauty of nature is well-preserved. Although the manor was built by humans decades ago, it has long since blended into the landscape. It’s currently the flowering season, and the manor features several lovely flower fields. It’s absolutely enchanting.”

“Duncan just called and suggested a barbecue. I asked him to invite Josh and his cousin as well. We have a designated area for barbecuing at the manor. Would you like to invite Ms. Sox, your cousin, and the others?”

Zachary remembered that Liberty’s diner would officially open the day after tomorrow, making it unlikely for her to join them for the barbecue.

He continued, “Tomorrow morning, we’ll pick Sonny up first. Then we’ll head back, and I’ll ask Mrs. Lane and Jim to go over and help Liberty out. That way, she won’t overwork herself.”

Serenity listened quietly, taking in his plans.

“What do you think, Seren? It’s your decision. If you don’t like it, we can always change the plan.”

Serenity reached out and hugged him. Feeling grateful, she said, “Thank you, Zachary! It’s so wonderful to have you!”

No matter the hardships they faced, he never gave up on her. When she was feeling down, he did everything he could to lift her spirits. This man had changed so much for her.

Zachary embraced her back before gently pulling away, looking at her warmly. “We’re going to be husband and wife for the rest of our lives, so we should support each other. When I’m sick, you’ll take care of me. When you’re feeling low, I’ll be here to cheer you up.”

He took her hand and intertwined their fingers, their hearts aligned.

Sister’s Diner opens in two days, and I’m definitely going to help out. Let’s stay at the manor for the night and return first thing in the morning on opening day.

Chapter 1042 “When did I say I was going back to the manor tomorrow for a barbecue?” Zachary asked.
