As I mentioned, you can only claim a quarter of Uncle Scott’s share. The same applies to Granddad.”

Noah patiently explained everything to his grandmother, concerned that she might clash with Serenity again.

“I don’t care. Your granddad and I live in this house; it belongs to us, and we can give it to whoever we choose. Am I going to be arrested if we lose the lawsuit?”

Noah cautioned his grandmother, “If the law is enforced, you and Granddad could be evicted from the house. If you cause trouble, you might be arrested and end up getting free meals, just like I did when I was detained last time. Grandmom, being detained is frightening. It’s best not to break the law.”

He was traumatized after spending fifteen days in detention and had no desire to engage in any harmful actions again.

“But Serenity and Liberty are daughters. Can’t daughters inherit the family property too?”

“According to inheritance law, daughters do have the right to inherit.”

“Why aren’t those d*mn girls dead? If they had died earlier, they wouldn’t be back fighting me for the family property.”

Old Mrs. Hunt didn’t fully understand the law, but after her grandson’s explanation, she realized that she and her husband wouldn’t benefit as much as they had hoped. She also couldn’t just decide to give all of Scott’s family assets to John. Frustrated, Old Mrs. Hunt cursed Serenity and her sister for shamelessly returning to their parents’ home to contest the family property.

Serenity paid no mind to those outside and took Zachary to visit her family’s home.

The house was built nearly 20 years ago and had long since aged, yet it remained her home and her roots. Standing at the doorway of a cluttered room, Serenity said to Zachary, “This room belonged to Liberty and me. As a child, I was timid and afraid to sleep alone, so I shared a bed with my sister.

“I was also a messy sleeper, often pushing my sister to the edge, leaving her with nowhere to rest. There was one time she even fell off the bed and ended up on the floor. When she woke up, she felt sand beneath her and called out to our mom, saying there was a lot of sand on the bed.

“When she got up and turned on the light, she realized she had actually been sleeping on the floor after being pushed by me.”

Serenity smiled as she recounted this embarrassing childhood story, but her eyes eventually welled with tears. The house still stood, yet their parents were no longer there.

In those days, Serenity would call out for her mom upon returning home from school, and her mother would always respond. If one’s parents are still alive, there is always a place to return to; but when they are gone, one is left only with the memory of home.

“I still remember it was raining the day my sister and I were kicked out of the house. They didn’t even let us take umbrellas. We stood there drenched, crying as we looked back. They were so cruel that they shut the door and locked it.

“At that time, I couldn’t understand why we were denied the home our parents had built—our home.

“Losing my parents was incredibly hard for me. I kept dreaming about them, but whenever I called out, they seemed to drift further away… Why did Granddad and Grandmom do that to my sister and me?”

Chapter 1028 “Are we going to lose the lawsuit?” Old Mrs. Hunt continued, “This house was built by your Uncle […]

[20

post-13006","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
