She usually doesn’t dwell on minor issues, but friendship holds significant importance for her.”

With a smile, Mr. Newman responded, “Mrs. York certainly has a big heart. I’ve heard that about her.”

“It’s good that you’re aware of that. If there’s nothing else, you may leave, Mr. Newman.”

Enough with the pretense.

The Yorks and Newmans had no business ties to one another.

Mr. Newman had wanted to leave the moment he entered, but he felt he couldn’t. Heaven knew how anxious he was under Zachary’s gaze.

Though he was considerably older than Zachary—possibly old enough to be his father—Mr. Newman felt diminished in Zachary’s presence despite having endured the toughest times in his life.

With Callum indicating the way out, Mr. Newman took his leave.

The York brothers did not rise to see Mr. Newman off; Callum simply instructed Mr. Chaplin to accompany him to the door.

Once Mr. Newman had left, Callum inquired, “How did Serenity get involved with Camryn and end up in a confrontation with Mrs. Newman?”

“It happened last night,” Zachary replied, recounting the entire incident to Callum. He added, “Serenity must have seen Camryn’s photo and realized that she’s your future wife, which would explain her involvement. But even without that knowledge, Seren is the type to stand up against injustice. She wouldn’t ignore the drugging issue.”

Serenity could never stand by and remain uninvolved in such matters.

Callum was at a loss for words. “I’ve never met Camryn in person, Zack. She’s not my wife!”

Zachary stared at him in silence.

With a heavy heart, Callum said, “I don’t understand how Nana picks the women for us. Out of all the beautiful ladies, she chose a blind girl for me.”

“That’s someone with a story worth discovering,” Zachary replied.

Callum responded, “You’ve turned poetic since marrying your wife.”

Zachary grinned.

“You called me up here to share the gossip. What do you expect me to do about it?”

“Protect your own woman. Don’t rely on my wife to help you,” Zachary advised.

“I told you, Zack. Camryn is not my wife! Nana chose her for me. Do I have to marry her?”

Having gone through a similar situation himself, Zachary cautioned, “Don’t speak too soon, Callum. You might regret it. Trust me.”

Zachary was well-acquainted with the truth coming back to haunt him.

Callum opened his mouth, but no words came out.

After a moment of silence, he pursed his lips and said, “I’ll stop by Urban Roundabout since tomorrow is the weekend. What’s the name of her flower shop again?”

“I don’t know,” Zachary replied bluntly.

It wasn’t as if Camryn was his potential wife. Why would he know the name of her flower shop? She would have been practically invisible to him if his wife hadn’t been so curious and helped Camryn out.

“Look it up if you want to know,” Zachary added.

Callum was left speechless.

“It’s over now. Get back to work,” Zachary said, pushing Callum to focus.

Once Callum was gone, Zachary immersed himself in his work, losing track of time. Serenity eventually had to pull him away.

She made him take a break from work and ensured he rested and ate when she arrived with his packed lunch. Time passed unnoticed during the busiest moments.

Chapter 1015 Zachary kept to himself, casting a cold stare at Mr. Newman, who was visibly anxious. “So, your purpose […]

[20

post-12993","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
