It\u2019s one of those no-means-yes situations.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Josh chided him, \u201cDon\u2019t speak ill of your sister in front of me.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Drake teased, \u201cAre you already on her side?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>\u201cDrake, is that Josh? Oh, it is Josh! Come on in,\u201d Mrs. Sox called from the doorway.<\/div>\n<div>Josh handed a gift to Mrs. Sox and shyly said, \u201cMrs. Sox, I wasn\u2019t sure what you and Mr. Sox would like, so I picked up a little something I thought was nice. I hope you like it.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>\u201cOh, you didn\u2019t have to do that! Mr. Sox and I are just happy you came,\u201d she replied.<\/div>\n<div>In truth, they were relieved\u2014finally, their single daughter had caught the attention of a remarkable young man.<\/div>\n<div>They had initially feared their son might marry a man, but it had all been a misunderstanding, which was yet another reason for their relief.<\/div>\n<div>As Josh stepped inside, he greeted Mr. Sox shyly.<\/div>\n<div>Mr. Sox smiled back warmly, his expression friendlier than before.<\/div>\n<div>Now that the misunderstanding had been cleared up, Mr. Sox began to see Josh in a more favorable light.<\/div>\n<div>After<\/p>\n<p>Gesturing for Josh to sit down, Mrs. Sox said to her son, \u201cTell your sister to come down. Josh is here. We should head to your aunt\u2019s place.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlright,\u201d Drake replied as he hurried upstairs to summon his sister. <\/p>\n<p>Mr. Sox offered Josh a cigarette. <\/p>\n<p>Josh waved his hand and responded, \u201cI don\u2019t smoke, Mr. Sox.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Sox chimed in, \u201cThat\u2019s a good habit. Jasmine doesn\u2019t like men who smoke.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Josh was well aware of that fact. <\/p>\n<p>He only smoked on rare occasions, keeping cigarettes and a lighter on hand for social gatherings. <\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Sox poured Josh a drink before sitting down in front of him. With a smile, she asked, \u201cDoes your family know about you and Jasmine?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Josh thought to himself, \u2018Is the meeting with the parents coming up soon?\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>With an embarrassed smile, he replied, \u201cI plan to tell my family when I finally get Jasmine to be my girlfriend, Mrs. Sox.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>He worried that his family might scare Jasmine away with their overly enthusiastic friendliness. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay. I have high hopes for you. You can do it.
