\u201cSerenity, you don\u2019t need to explain or apologize to me. I don\u2019t blame you,\u201d Elisa replied. \u201cI\u2019m just furious that Zachary lied to both of us. He made fools out of us cousins.\u201d<\/div>\n
Just moments earlier, Jasmine had shared with Elisa the entire story of how Serenity discovered Zachary\u2019s true identity. Elisa felt a wave of sympathy for her cousin, who had been deceived the entire time.<\/div>\n
\u201cSerenity, I gave up on Zachary a long time ago. The moment I found out he was married, I moved on. I\u2019ve felt at peace since I stepped back and stopped thinking about him. Don\u2019t let my feelings interfere with your decision. Despite the lies, he\u2019s someone you could potentially spend your life with.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cHowever, since he played you so well, I hope you take your time in forgiving him. At the very least, make him suffer a little.\u201d<\/div>\n
As she reflected on it, Elisa realized she was now the older cousin-in-law to Zachary. She could definitely set him straight for Serenity.<\/div>\n

Elisa carefully examined her injured finger. \u201cThe bleeding doesn\u2019t seem to want to stop. We should get you to the hospital. You look a bit pale, too.\u201d<\/div>\n

Despite the pain in her finger, Serenity resisted the idea.<\/div>\n
The scissors had penetrated deeply into her finger, but thankfully, it remained intact.<\/div>\n

Not accepting her refusal, Elisa pulled Serenity along.<\/div>\n
Jasmine supported Elisa, urging Serenity to go along with them.<\/p>\n

Serenity went to the hospital to clean and dress her injury. She eventually gave in to her best friend Elisa\u2019s persuasion and allowed her to drive them there. Meanwhile, Zachary was on his way to his office after gathering what remained of his dignity and leaving the bookshop. <\/p>\n

Josh was surprised by Zachary\u2019s unexpected return. Abandoning his current task, Josh hurried to Zachary\u2019s office. \u201cWhat brings you back? Didn\u2019t you say you wouldn\u2019t be in the office for a while? You look like you\u2019ve seen a ghost. Please tell me you didn\u2019t have another argument with your wife,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Josh poured Zachary a glass of water. \u201cHave a drink. Calm yourself down.\u201d Zachary took the glass and quickly drank the water before slamming it back onto the table, remaining silent. <\/p>\n

\u201cSay something. If you\u2019re dealing with another issue, let me know. I\u2019ve told you time and again\u2014you need to work on that temper of yours,\u201d Josh insisted. <\/p>\n

\u201cElisa is back from her travels,\u201d Zachary replied. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo she\u2019s back,\u201d Josh said nonchalantly. \u201cAre you worried she\u2019ll do something to your wife when she finds out? I trust you\u2019re capable of protecting Serenity.\u201d <\/p>\n

Zachary replied, \u201cIt would be easier to handle if she did something to hurt Serenity, but she hasn\u2019t. Elisa was furious and criticized me for lying to Serenity. She accused me of making a fool out of both her and Serenity. Things were starting to improve between me and Serenity, but Elisa\u2019s sudden return has thrown us back to square one. <\/p>\n

\u201cSerenity even tried to kick me out! I snapped at her in the heat of the moment\u2026 I left before I lost my temper and did something I\u2019d regret.\u201d <\/p>\n

Josh stared at him in disbelief. <\/p>\n

Flustered, Zachary added, \u201cIt\u2019s so difficult to please women! I let her go home with her sister when she wanted to stay with her family. She needed to cool off, but my presence just\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t a bother to her. So why did she ask me to leave? I just wanted to see her, that\u2019s all.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat did you say to her?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI asked if she cared more about Elisa since she seems to prefer having Elisa around instead of me. She always does this; she chooses others over me, even though I always put her first. I guess I can\u2019t compete with Sonny. After all, Sonny is her nephew, so I shouldn\u2019t take it personally, but I can\u2019t believe Elisa is more important than I am.\u201d <\/p>\n

Now that Josh understood the situation, he said calmly, \u201cYou\u2019re jealous of Elisa. Serenity didn\u2019t appreciate that Elisa confronted you, which is why she asked you to leave. Yet, you let it get to you. Zachary, I\u2019m trying to make this as clear as possible for you.\u201d<\/p>\n
