They returned home with a bag full of snacks and a carton of milk.

Serenity stopped the e-bike in front of Liberty’s building.

She instinctively scanned the area but didn’t see Zachary. Although she felt relieved, her emotions were mixed.

“Get down first, Sonny. I’ll push the bike into the garage and lock it up,” she said.

A public garage was available on the first floor for tenants to park their vehicles.

Serenity carefully lowered her nephew from the e-bike and set the snacks and carton of milk beside him.

The little guy assumed his aunt had bought all the snacks for him, so he immediately squatted next to the bag, grabbing it with one hand while holding onto the carton of milk with the other, clearly trying to guard his treasure.

“Sonny.”

A familiar voice called out.

Sonny turned to see Zachary standing behind him. He quickly stood up and exclaimed, “Uncle Zack!”

Then, he raised his arms, eager for Zachary to pick him up.

As Serenity pushed the e-bike into the garage, she heard Zachary’s voice. She instinctively turned to look at him, just in time to see him lifting Sonny.

In that brief moment of distraction, she accidentally bumped the e-bike into a motorcycle parked nearby. The motorcycle tipped over, causing the e-bike to tilt as well. Serenity lost her balance and fell onto the e-bike.

“Seren!”

Zachary shouted, quickly putting Sonny down and rushing to the garage.

“Seren, are you okay? Did you scrape yourself? Let me see,” he asked, pulling her up and anxiously checking for any bruises.

“Thank you for your concern, Mr. York. I’m—”

“Fine.” Serenity pushed away his large hands, dismissing his scrutiny, and thanked him coolly. She then turned to pick up the bikes. Zachary caught the distant tone of her voice and noted her cold expression. The way she spoke to him stung more than her outright dismissal.

“Seren.”

Serenity fixed her gaze on him. Zachary felt tongue-tied under her piercing stare.

“I—I’ll help you get the bikes. Just stand back.”

Zachary sighed internally. As Josh had advised, his priority now was to regain Serenity’s trust.

“Thanks, but no thanks. I can manage on my own.”

Zachary’s heart sank. She always acted this way, never allowing him the chance to assist her.

After rejecting his offer, Serenity righted the e-bike and the motorbike she had knocked over. She noticed the motorbike’s side mirror was broken and felt compelled to compensate the owner, though she had no idea who it belonged to.

After some thought, she pulled out her phone and called her sister. When Liberty answered, Serenity explained, “Liberty, please bring me a pen and paper. I accidentally knocked over someone’s motorbike while pushing the e-bike into the garage, and one of the side mirrors broke. I want to leave a note for the owner, but I don’t know who it is.”

“Okay.”

Liberty refrained from scolding Serenity and soon arrived with a pen and paper. She wasn’t surprised to see Zachary standing in the garage like a statue of ice. Given his nature, even if he could let Serenity leave with him, he wouldn’t abandon her.

Had he been there the whole time?

Liberty glanced at her brother-in-law.

Zachary caught her look and muttered, “Seren won’t let me help her.”

Liberty was

Speechless. Serenity declined his help, prompting him to remain motionless like a statue of ice, occupying space. “Here, Seren,” Liberty said, handing her sister a pen and paper. She then shot Zachary a glance and motioned for him to follow her out of the garage.

Chapter 865 Serenity and Sonny took two laps around the neighborhood before she decided to take him to a nearby […]

[20

post-12767","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
