This chapter explains why Zachary left for a business trip shortly after Serenity took a DNA test with her aunt. Zachary wanted to avoid meeting Aunt Audrey, fearing that his deception might be revealed!<\/div>\n
As Serenity recalled moments from their four-month-old marriage, the color drained from her face.<\/div>\n
Jasmine noticed Serenity\u2019s hand trembling over the mouse.<\/div>\n
\u201cSeren, are you okay? Are you alright?\u201d<\/div>\n
Serenity\u2019s reaction startled Jasmine.<\/div>\n
Jasmine quickly smacked and shook her friend.<\/div>\n
Like a puppet, Serenity remained still and unresponsive, no matter how many times Jasmine tried to catch her attention. Serenity simply stared at Zachary\u2019s enlarged face on the computer screen, lost in a trance.<\/div>\n
It was him. It had to be him!<\/div>\n
He was her husband. There was no way she could be mistaken about that.<\/div>\n
They were a couple who had shared their most intimate moments together. She was beginning to trust him, but it turned out he was a big liar! He had deceived her from the very beginning!<\/div>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t scare me, Seren. Say something. I\u2019m worried about you. I\u2013I\u2019m going to call Liberty.\u201d<\/div>\n
Unable to break her friend out of the trance, Jasmine took out her phone to call Liberty for assistance.<\/div>\n
In her flustered state, she struggled to remember Liberty\u2019s contact number and had to scroll through her list one by one to find it.<\/div>\n
It took a while for Jasmine to locate Liberty\u2019s new phone number, having scrolled past it several times without noticing.<\/div>\n
Serenity was in a dire state.<\/div>\n
Her face had gone pale.<\/div>\n
Liberty was at her restaurant when she received Jasmine\u2019s call.<\/div>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong, Jasmine? Tell Seren I won\u2019t be coming over for lunch.\u201d<\/div>\n
She assumed her sister was\u2026<\/p>\n

Liberty was calling to arrange lunch together at the bookshop. \u201cWhere are you now, Liberty? Is this a good time? Hurry over. Something\u2019s wrong with Seren,\u201d Jasmine said urgently. <\/p>\n

Turning pale, Liberty rushed to grab her son and dashed out of the restaurant before Jasmine could explain further. She stopped the first car that drove by.<\/p>\n

Duncan slammed on the brakes.<\/p>\n

He unlocked the door to exit, but Liberty climbed into the backseat with Sonny. Once settled, Liberty instructed, \u201cI need to get to Wiltspoon School, driver. Please, drive!\u201d<\/p>\n

Duncan turned to look at her. \u201cWhat\u2019s going on? You seem frantic. You didn\u2019t even close the door of your shop.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Lewis?\u201d Liberty asked, surprised. \u201cWhy are you here?\u201d <\/p>\n

Why did she always run into Duncan?<\/p>\n

Duncan chuckled, \u201cI should be asking you that! You dashed out with Sonny in your arms and stopped my car without checking who was driving. You hopped in without knowing it was me. You could have been kidnapped if you just get into any car.\u201d<\/p>\n

As he spoke, he studied Liberty closely. <\/p>\n

It seemed she had lost even more weight over the holidays, her cheeks were slimmer, making her look more attractive.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you free now, Mr. Lewis? Can you drive me to Wiltspoon School? If not, I can call a cab,\u201d Liberty offered. <\/p>\n

She didn\u2019t want to take up Duncan\u2019s time; he was a busy man, especially right after the holidays. Balancing her son, she prepared to exit the car.<\/p>\n

\u201cStay put. I\u2019ll drive you there! Just give me the keys to your shop, and I\u2019ll help you lock up,\u201d Duncan insisted.<\/p>\n

Liberty checked her pocket and replied, \u201cThe keys\u2026 They\u2019re in the restaurant.\u201d<\/p>\n
