He even mentioned that he might not secure the senior executive position there.<\/div>\n<div>Hank was uncomfortable with Liberty working at Lewis &amp; Co. because he realized that her return to the workforce could help her regain a successful career.<\/div>\n<div>It was fortunate for him that they were now divorced; he no longer had to worry about being overshadowed by his ex-wife.<\/div>\n<div>With Jessica as his secretary and dependent on him, it bolstered his sense of masculinity.<\/div>\n<div>Upon recognizing Mrs. Brown, Duncan halted and shot her a glare. He coldly asked, \u201cWhat are you doing here?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>He glanced at the mother and son inside the shop before issuing a stern warning to Mrs. Brown. \u201cI lease the shop to Liberty. I won\u2019t tolerate any trouble from you. This won\u2019t just end with compensation.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Mrs. Brown fired back with more questions, \u201cWhat are you doing here? Are you trying to pursue my daughter-in-law?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>\u201cI own half the commercial properties on this street. You can refer to me as Liberty\u2019s landlord. My business here is none of your concern. If I recall correctly, Liberty and your son are divorced. What? Didn\u2019t he marry his mistress?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>\u201cYou should be encouraging them to get married. That way, you can have a new daughter-in-law. Liberty is no longer a part of the Browns. Stop referring to her as your daughter-in-law.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Mrs. Brown choked. <\/div>\n<div>The last thing she wanted was for her son to marry Jessica. However, her son refused to listen to her and had already set a date to obtain a marriage license with Jessica. <\/div>\n<div>Today, Jessica\u2019s parents, brother, and sister-in-law came to request a meeting between both families to discuss the wedding over a meal. <\/div>\n<div>Mrs. Brown felt a pang of concern for her son at the thought of the Yates family coming to discuss their contribution to the wedding and family support. <\/div>\n<div>Liberty received a substantial amount of money from the divorce. <\/div>\n<div>At least Liberty had given Mrs. Brown a grandson. While Liberty had the funds, most of it would likely be spent on her grandson. <\/div>\n<div>After much contemplation and discussion with her husband, Mrs. Brown accepted the reality. What more could she do? The money was already deposited into Serenity\u2019s bank account. <\/div>\n<div>Nevertheless, Jessica had yet to carry the Browns\u2019 bloodline, and she had taken someone else\u2019s husband. Her son inexplicably wanted to give Jessica and her family a sum of money to pay for the wedding. It was a hard pill for Mrs. Brown to swallow. <\/div>\n<div>That was why she found herself here, searching for Liberty. <\/div>\n<div>She had tracked Liberty down and discovered that she rented a shop nearby to start a business. Mrs. Brown still hadn\u2019t figured out what type of business Liberty intended to pursue. <\/div>\n<div>\u201cHow can she claim to be unrelated to the Browns? Sonny is my grandson, and Liberty is his mother. How are we not connected?\u201d <\/div>\n<div>Duncan frowned. \u201cWhat do you want?\u201d <\/div>\n<div>Straightening her back, Mrs. Brown declared, \u201cI\u2019m here to see my grandson. Liberty said during the divorce that we could visit Sonny anytime we want. Is that a problem for you?\u201d <\/div>\n<div>Duncan was taken aback. <\/div>\n<div>Mrs. Brown grabbed her purse and confidently walked past Duncan, her chest held high. \u201cMy son will get back together with Liberty. You don\u2019t stand a chance.\u201d <\/div>\n<div>Duncan<\/p>\n<p>He wanted to laugh. It wasn\u2019t as if he was pursuing Liberty; Duncan had a fondness for the little man and even brought him a pinwheel. How did this turn into the idea that he was chasing after Liberty and had no chance? Liberty would never get back together with someone like Hank, even if Hank wanted to rekindle the relationship. It was Hank who stood no chance. Duncan turned his head to see Mrs. Brown open the glass door and enter the shop. A moment later, he decided to leave.
